Job Title: General Assembly (GA) Shop Quality Assurance Group Lead / Team LeadJob Summary:The GA Shop Quality Assurance Group Lead/Team Lead is responsible for leading the quality assurance team on the General Assembly floor to ensure that all vehicles produced meet the highest quality standards. This role involves managing quality control activities, driving continuous improvement, ensuring compliance with OEM and industry standards, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to resolve quality issues efficiently.Key Responsibilities:- Lead, mentor, and manage the Quality Assurance team on the GA floor, ensuring effective workload distribution and high-quality output.- Oversee and monitor in-process quality checks at various assembly stations, identifying and addressing defects promptly to reduce rework and scrap.- Ensure strict adherence to assembly process standards, quality policies, and regulatory requirements (e.g., TS16949).- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product quality, production efficiency, and overall operational excellence.- Collaborate closely with production, engineering, and other departments to investigate root causes of quality issues and implement corrective and preventive actions.- Maintain detailed quality records, generate performance metrics and reports, and communicate findings to senior management.- Conduct training for assembly line workers on quality standards, inspection techniques, and best practices to minimize defects.- Lead internal quality audits and prepare the team for external audits and certifications.- Facilitate problem-solving activities, including root cause analysis and escalation of complex issues.- Support and enforce Health, Safety, and Environmental policies within the team and across work Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality Management, or a related field.- Proven experience (typically 5+ years for Officer, 10+ years for Manager) in quality assurance or quality control within an automotive or manufacturing environment.- Strong leadership skills with prior team management experience.- In-depth knowledge of automotive assembly processes, quality standards (TS16949, ISO), and inspection methodologies.- Proficiency in root cause analysis tools (8D, FMEA) and continuous improvement techniques (Lean, Six Sigma).- Excellent communication, analytical, and interpersonal skills.- Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams in a fast-paced production Quality Management Systems (QMS)- Process Control and Statistical Process Control (SPC)- Corrective and Preventive Action (CAPA)- Auditing and Compliance- Report Generation and Data Analysis- Training and Mentoring- Problem Solving and Decision Making (ref:iimjobs.com)
