GIS Director: Platforms and Operations

As part of the GIS Global leadership team (functionally direct reporting to Group CIO and locally working with India MD of Computacenter India) you will ensure that GIS flawlessly operate digital platforms and services (applications, information, security, networks and infrastructure) in line with agreed service levels and fulfils service requests in a timely and cost-effective manner. The global GIS team is of ~700 member strong globally. This role will be responsible for Global run of our internal IT platforms and will lead all teams responsible for run operation across the globe including current ~250 member India GIS team.


What you’ll do:


  • with the GIS Leadership team to understand the demand for digital platforms and services and lead the creation of a service strategy that supports the current and future needs which is also aligned to the 3 – 5 year technology roadmap for Computacenter group – a $10Bn annual revenue IT VAR with a 20000+ employee organization spread across 70 countries.


  • A services catalogue that colleagues can request products and services from GIS and fulfil those requests within the agreed SLAs. Ensure that services align to business requirements, e.g. new starter; joiner, mover, leaver; etc. Manage access to the environment.


  • New services are designed for support and operation to ensure they can meet business expectations such as performance & availability targets and also GIS requirements such as DR, cyber-security, etc.


  • New services into production without any unplanned outages or impact through agile but robust change management; release and deployment management; and, service validation and testing.


  • An accurate view of the environment including asset and configuration database, knowledge management, etc.


  • that currently live platforms and services are maintained proactively to ensure that they meet their SLAs including performing capacity and availability management, and event management.


  • Continuous improvement in the services framework, automating operations (AIOps) wherever possible. Establish guilds such as Service Management to publish and leverage best practice.


  • An effective member of the GIS leadership team driving collaboration, sharing of ideas and adoption of best practices across GIS and the group.


What you’ll Need:


  • Priority Setting: Ability to determine and manage tasks based on their relative importance and urgency.
  • Organizing: Skill in arranging and structuring tasks, resources, and information effectively.
  • Process Management: Capability to oversee and optimize workflows and procedures for efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Perseverance: Capacity to persist and remain determined in the face of challenges or setbacks.
  • Problem Solving: Aptitude for analyzing issues and devising solutions to overcome them.
  • Service Management: Proficiency in managing IT services to deliver value to customers and stakeholders.
  • ITIL (Information Technology Infrastructure Library): Familiarity with IT service management best practices and frameworks.
  • AIOps (Artificial Intelligence for IT Operations): Knowledge of utilizing AI and machine learning techniques for enhancing IT operations.
  • DevSecOps: Understanding of integrating security practices into the DevOps process to ensure secure software development and deployment.
  • Technology Landscape: Awareness of current and emerging technologies relevant to the industry or domain.
