Quality Control Engineer-Instrumentation

The Quality Control Engineer is responsible for ensuring that all products meet the company’s quality standards throughout the manufacturing process and at the point of delivery. This role includes inspection, testing, root cause analysis, corrective actions, and product clearance for packing and shipment. The ideal candidate will also have or be willing to learn knowledge in hazardous area applications, contributing to the safety and compliance of control panels in challenging environments.
Key Responsibilities:- Quality Inspection:
- Conduct incoming material inspections, in-process inspections, and final product inspections for control panels, instrumentation, and automation systems.
- Ensure all products meet predefined specifications and quality standards at each stage of production.
- Product Clearance for Shipping:
- Review and approve final products for packing, ensuring that they meet quality standards and are safe for shipment.
- Ensure all products are correctly packaged and labeled in accordance with customer requirements and regulatory standards.
- Provide clearance for product dispatch based on successful quality checks, documentation, and compliance.
- Documentation & Reporting:
- Maintain accurate records of inspections, tests, non-conformance reports (NCRs), corrective actions, and approvals for packing and shipping.
- Prepare and submit quality reports detailing findings, issues, and resolution status.
- Ensure documentation is compliant with ISO, IEC, and customer-specific requirements, ensuring traceability of all products.
- Root Cause Analysis & Corrective Action:
- Identify the root cause of quality-related issues and work closely with production and engineering teams to implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
- Support continuous improvement efforts to optimize manufacturing processes and product quality.
- Process Improvement:
- Monitor manufacturing processes for improvements that will enhance product quality, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness.
- Assist with design reviews, ensuring manufacturability and compliance with quality standards for new control panel designs.
- Hazardous Area Applications:
- Ensure compliance with relevant standards for products used in hazardous areas (e.g., ATEX, IECEx).
- If not already experienced, demonstrate a willingness to quickly learn and understand the requirements of hazardous area applications and ensure that products meet safety standards for such environments.
- Testing & Calibration:
- Oversee testing and calibration of instruments and control panels to ensure compliance with customer and regulatory standards.
- Ensure that testing equipment is calibrated and maintained according to established schedules.
- Compliance & Audits:
- Ensure adherence to relevant regulatory standards and quality certifications (e.g., ISO 9001, IEC).
- Conduct internal audits and assist with external audits by customers or regulatory bodies to maintain quality certifications.
- Training & Guidance:
- Train production and assembly teams on quality standards, inspection procedures, and safety protocols.
- Provide ongoing support and guidance on best practices for quality control within the manufacturing process.
- Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Instrumentation, Mechatronics, or a related field.
- Experience:
- Minimum 2-3 years of experience in quality control or quality assurance in an engineering or manufacturing environment.
- Experience with instrumentation, control panels, or automation systems is preferred.
- Experience or willingness to learn about hazardous area applications and associated standards (e.g., ATEX, IECEx) is a plus.
- Skills & Competencies:
- Strong knowledge of quality management systems (QMS) and industry standards (e.g., ISO 9001, IEC).
- Familiarity with control panel wiring, instrumentation components, and automation systems.
- Proficiency with quality control tools and techniques (e.g., SPC, FMEA, root cause analysis).
- Excellent attention to detail, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- Certifications (optional):
- Certification in quality management (e.g., Six Sigma, Quality Auditor) is a plus.
- Certification or training in hazardous area classification or related fields is a plus, but not required.
