Job Summary:


We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced OpenStack Expert to join our team and play a critical role in the design, deployment, and management of our cloud infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of OpenStack architecture, components, and best practices, along with a proven track record of implementing and maintaining robust OpenStack environments. This role requires a strong understanding of virtual machine (VM) lifecycle management, including cluster creation, node management, and configuration of VMs for various workloads.


Responsibilities:

OpenStack Architecture and Deployment:

  • Design, deploy, and manage OpenStack cloud infrastructure, including compute, storage, networking, and identity services.
  • Define and implement OpenStack configurations and policies to meet the specific needs of the organization.
  • Ensure the high availability, performance, and scalability of OpenStack deployments.
  • Develop and maintain OpenStack infrastructure documentation.


OpenStack VM Technology and Lifecycle Management:

  • VM Cluster Creation: Design and implement OpenStack VM clusters, including defining resource allocation, network configurations, and storage requirements.
  • Node Management: Manage OpenStack nodes, including adding, removing, and updating nodes within a cluster.
  • VM Lifecycle: Manage the full lifecycle of VMs, from creation and configuration to scaling, migration, and decommissioning.
  • VM Configuration: Create and configure VMs with various compute, memory, and storage optimization settings to meet specific workload requirements. This includes understanding the mapping of physical CPUs to vCPUs, configuring VMs with GPUs, and managing the interfacing of RAM, networking, and storage resources.


OpenStack Operations and Management:

  • Monitor and troubleshoot OpenStack environments, resolving issues quickly and efficiently.
  • Manage user accounts and access control within the OpenStack environment.
  • Automate routine tasks and processes using OpenStack APIs and automation tools.
  • Implement and maintain security best practices for OpenStack deployments, including data encryption, access control, and network security.


Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of proven experience in designing, deploying, and managing OpenStack environments.
  • Deep understanding of OpenStack components, including Compute, Storage, Networking, and Identity.
  • Experience with OpenStack API and automation tools like Ansible or Puppet.
  • Experience with Linux operating systems and command-line tools.
  • Strong understanding of virtualization technologies, such as KVM or Xen.
  • Experience with containerization technologies, such as Docker or Kubernetes, is a plus.
  • In-depth knowledge of OpenStack VM technology and lifecycle management, including:
  • Creating and managing OpenStack VM clusters.
  • Adding, modifying, and removing nodes within a cluster.
  • Configuring VMs for various workload types (compute-optimized, memory-optimized, general compute).
  • Understanding the mapping of physical CPUs to vCPUs.
  • Configuring VMs with GPUs.
  • Managing the interfacing of RAM, networking, and storage resources.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.


Preferred:

  • Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Certifications in OpenStack (e.g., OpenStack Certified Professional, OpenStack Certified Administrator).
  • Experience with cloud security best practices and tools.
  • Experience with DevOps methodologies and tools.
  • Experience with scripting languages like Python, Bash, or Perl.
  • Experience with monitoring and logging tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, or ELK.
