As a growing company, with offices in the USA, UK, Australia, and India servicing clients in over 60 countries, we are seeking talented and ambitious individuals to join our company.The RoleAs a Lead Software Engineer , you will bring technical excellence and leadership to guide a cross-functional squad to design, build, and deliver scalable, high-quality solutions. You will mentor engineers, drive architectural decisions, and ensure that JoVE’s products remain at the forefront of innovation in the EdTech and STEM research space.Responsibilities- Lead and mentor engineers within your squad to deliver high quality engineering solutions. - Drive the design and development of scalable, data-driven architectures, including APIs, microservices, and distributed systems. - Ensure code quality and maintainability through adherence to software engineering principles (SOLID, DRY, SaaS multi-tenancy). - Partner with Product Managers, UX Designers, and other stakeholders to deliver features and initiatives that meet customer needs. - Champion Agile/Scrum practices, ensuring the squad is efficient, predictable, and continuously improving. - Triage and resolve incidents, leading root cause investigations and implementing long-term fixes. - Collaborate on cloud-native solutions (AWS serverless or container-based) to ensure scalability, security, and performance at production scale. - Stay ahead of emerging technologies and propose solutions that enhance JoVE’s technical stack and product offerings.Requirements- 7+ years of professional software engineering experience, with recent hands-on coding responsibilities. - At lest 2 years of experience in a team leadership capacity. - Expertise with modern web application frameworks (PHP, Node.js, Python, or similar). - Deep knowledge of RESTful APIs, microservices, and distributed systems. - Strong database expertise across SQL, NoSQL, in-memory, and distributed SQL (PostgreSQL, Redis, Cassandra, Elastic). - Experience integrating with 3rd-party APIs and external frameworks. - Expert-level understanding of cloud-native architectures (AWS preferred, serverless or containers). - Strong grasp of software design principles (SOLID, DRY, SaaS multi-tenancy). - Hands-on experience with Agile/Scrum, CI/CD, and automated testing. - Proven ability to lead incident response and investigations. - Self-driven, results oriented and thrives in a fast paced environment.Why JoVE?- You can expect compensation competitively placed within the local market. - You will make a direct impact in accelerating science research and discovery. - Opportunity to work in a remote and global environment that promotes innovation and collaboration. - Our strong promotion from within culture draws a clear path to advance your career with us.
