About the role :


The Staff Network Engineer will play a pivotal role in shaping the architecture, design, implementation, and ongoing management of the organization’s advanced cloud-first and hybrid network environments. This role involves deep technical expertise, strong leadership in mentoring and project management, and a strategic vision for network automation, performance, and security. As a senior leader within the network engineering team, the Staff Network Engineer is expected to drive innovation, ensure high availability, and build scalable, resilient network infrastructures that align with business goals.


Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Architect and lead the design and development of cloud-native and on-premise network infrastructure, including firewalls, routers, switches, load balancers, and software-defined networking solutions.
  • Own end-to-end responsibility for the performance, security, and reliability of network infrastructure, driving continuous improvement and scalability to meet future growth.
  • Drive strategic network automation initiatives, leveraging advanced scripting and automation frameworks (e.g., Python, Terraform, CI/CD pipelines) to deliver efficiency, consistency, and reduce operational burdens.
  • Collaborate at the executive level with cross-functional teams and external partners, providing technical leadership and ensuring seamless integration of network technologies across platforms and business units.
  • Mentor and develop senior network engineers and team, fostering a culture of technical excellence, continuous learning, and innovation in network design and operations.
  • Lead network observability efforts, designing advanced telemetry systems and leveraging ELK stacks and other observability platforms to provide real-time insight into end-to-end network performance.
  • Oversee and ensure compliance with regulatory and security standards, such as PCI-DSS, HIPAA, and SOC 2, across cloud and on-premise environments.
  • Serve as a key project and technical leader, owning the delivery of high-profile network projects and ensuring their successful completion within agreed timelines and budgets.
  • Develop and maintain high-quality network documentation, including architectural diagrams, standard operating procedures, and knowledge base articles to ensure clarity and consistency across teams.
  • Participate in strategic decision-making on network technology investments and roadmap planning, ensuring the network architecture aligns with the company's long-term objectives. Participate in an on-call rotation to provide network support during both business and non-business hours


Knowledge, Skills, & Qualifications


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent experience.
  • 8+ years of progressive experience in senior or staff-level network engineering roles with hands-on responsibility for multi-site, cloud-native networks.
  • Demonstrated mastery of advanced networking protocols (e.g., BGP, MPLS, IPSec) in globally scaling, high-availability environments.
  • Expertise in cloud networking solutions (AWS, Azure) and experience designing network architectures in hybrid cloud/on-prem environments.
  • Proven experience in network automation and CI/CD integration using scripting languages (e.g., Python, Go) and automation tools (e.g., Terraform, Ansible).
  • Leadership experience in driving network transformation initiatives and mentoring engineers in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
  • Extensive experience in building observability pipelines using Grafana or equivalent for, streaming telemetry, and similar technologies.
  • Deep understanding of SSL Certificate and Caching technologies for large-scale complex environments
  • Ability to manage complex projects, prioritize competing demands, and deliver solutions in a dynamic, evolving environment.


Preferred:

Industry certifications such as AWS Advanced Networking, CCIE, JNCIE, or equivalent are highly desirable.

Strong experience with SD-WAN technologies and large-scale, high-performance environments.

Deep knowledge of network observability and monitoring tools, including experience with ELK and real-time telemetry.

Familiarity with DevOps practices and methodologies within a network operations environment.

Ability to lead and inspire teams while managing cross-functional collaborations at a strategic level.
