We are seeking an experienced PostgreSQL Database Administrator (DBA) to design, implement, and manage PostgreSQL environments for UAT, Production, and Disaster Recovery (DR). The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in High Availability (HA), replication, backup & recovery, security, monitoring, and disaster recovery strategies. The role also involves creating Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), comprehensive documentation, and knowledge transfer to internal teams.Key Responsibilities 1. Database Design & Implementation Architect and implement PostgreSQL database environments forUAT, Production, and DR . Ensure optimal performance, scalability, and reliability of database instances. Configure database parameters, schemas, and storage as per project requirements. 2. High Availability & Disaster Recovery Set upHigh Availability (HA)configuration withmanual failover . ImplementDisaster Recovery (DR)setup with replication. Conduct periodic DR drills to validate recovery procedures and failover readiness. 3. Backup & Recovery Strategy Develop and implement arobust backup strategy(physical/logical backups). Configure automated backup scheduling and retention policies. Test and validate recovery processes to ensure data integrity and minimal downtime. 4. Security, Monitoring & Auditing Implementrole-based access control , database encryption, and secure authentication methods. Set upmonitoring toolsfor performance, replication lag, and availability tracking. Configureauditing mechanismsto meet compliance and regulatory requirements. 5. Documentation & Knowledge Transfer Prepare comprehensivedocumentationof PostgreSQL configurations, procedures, and maintenance tasks. DevelopStandard Operating Procedures (SOPs)for operational use. Conducttraining sessionsand handover knowledge to the operations/support team.Required Skills & Qualifications Education:Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field. Experience:5+ years of PostgreSQL DBA experience, with proven expertise in HA, replication, and DR. Technical Expertise: PostgreSQL installation, configuration, and optimization. HA setup using tools likePatroni, repmgr, pgPool-II, or similar . DR replication strategies (streaming replication, logical replication). Backup tools ( pgBackRest, Barman, or custom scripts ). Security hardening, SSL/TLS encryption, and role-based access control. Monitoring tools ( pgAdmin, Prometheus, Grafana, or equivalent ). Soft Skills:Strong documentation skills, team collaboration, and ability to train technical staff.
