Account Director - Public Relations and Communications

Position Overview

As an Account Director within our Public Relations and Communications firm, you will play a pivotal role in steering the strategic direction and management of our client accounts. With your strong foundation in media relations, tactical and strategic media management, and a deep understanding of client business objectives, you will ensure the delivery of high-impact PR campaigns and foster enduring client relationships. This role demands a blend of leadership, innovation, and industry insight to drive both client satisfaction and business growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Leadership: Guide client account teams to deliver exceptional service, setting and overseeing strategic account directions to meet and exceed client expectations.
  • Business Development: Spearhead efforts to grow profitable revenue by expanding existing client engagements and identifying new business opportunities.
  • Team and Client Management: Foster a culture of excellence in managing teams and client portfolios, providing high-level consultancy and ensuring optimal team performance and client satisfaction.
  • Financial Oversight: Ensure the financial health of client contracts, including budget management, resource allocation, and proactive measures to address undercharging.
  • Influencer Engagement: Utilize your network of media, analysts, and industry contacts to enhance client outcomes and maintain responsive relationships with client PR teams.
  • Communication Mastery: Champion effective communication strategies within the team and with clients, leveraging your skills in both written and oral forms to influence and engage.
  • Cultural Leadership: Cultivate a collaborative, accountable workplace, inspiring your team and clients with a compelling vision for success.
  • Innovation and Critical Thinking: Lead by example in innovation, actively participating in brainstorming sessions and implementing solutions to complex challenges.
  • Professional Development: Commit to the growth and development of your team, providing coaching, training, and feedback to nurture high-performing individuals.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in PR, Communications, Marketing, Business, Journalism, or a related field.
  • Demonstrable experience in leading and managing teams, with a focus on coaching and development.
  • Established track record of securing new business and achieving revenue growth.
  • Proficiency in social media communication and engagement.
  • Willingness to travel as required for client and business needs.
  • Demonstrated success in maintaining high client satisfaction and retention rates.

Desired Qualifications

  • A postgraduate qualification in PR, Communications, Marketing, Business, Journalism, or a related field is highly advantageous.

Preferred Skills and Attributes
