About the LDES Council:
The Long Duration Energy Storage (LDES) Council is a global non-profit organisation with over 60 members across 20 countries. Our mission is to accelerate the decarbonisation of the energy system at the lowest cost to society by promoting innovation, commercialisation, and deployment of long-duration energy storage. We provide member-driven, fact-based guidance and research to governments, grid operators, and major electricity users to help achieve NetZero for electric grids by 2040.
Job Summary:
The India Representative will play a pivotal role in advancing the LDES Council’s mission in India. This position requires a dynamic and knowledgeable individual who will represent the Council in various forums, engage with key stakeholders, and support the adoption of long-duration energy storage technologies within the country. This role will involve close coordination with International partners and organizations.
Key Responsibilities:
● Representation & Advocacy: Represent the LDES Council at relevant forums, conferences, and meetings in India, advocating for the adoption and deployment of long-duration energy storage technologies.
● Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain strong relationships with government agencies, grid operators, major electricity users, and other key stakeholders in the Indian energy sector.
● Project Support: Collaborate with LDES members in India to support projects and initiatives that align with the Council’s mission and goals.
● Market Research: Conduct research and analysis on India’s energy storage needs and provide insights into opportunities for long-duration energy storage deployment.
● Reporting: Provide regular updates and detailed reports to the LDES Council on the progress of activities and developments within the Indian market.
Qualifications:
● Bachelor’s degree in Energy, Chemicals, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field.
● Minimum of 3 years of experience in the energy sector, with a focus on renewable energy, energy storage, or climate policy.
● Strong understanding of India’s energy market, regulatory environment, and decarbonisation strategies.
● Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage with a wide range of stakeholders.
● Proven ability to manage multiple projects and work independently.
● Fluency in English is required; proficiency in local languages is an advantage.
Preferred Skills:
● Experience in policy advocacy and government relations within the energy sector.
● Knowledge of long-duration energy storage technologies, including mechanical, thermal, electrochemical, and chemical solutions.
● Passion for climate change mitigation and sustainable energy solutions.
