About the role:

The candidate will work closely with political parties (and/or government bodies), providing advisory support on governance and policy initiatives. The ideal candidate is a sharp, analytical thinker with a strong passion for government policy and public programs. They are comfortable working with official datasets and Management Information Systems (MIS), and possess the ability to extract insights that drive smarter policy decision making. Strong writing skills, a solid understanding of political and governance frameworks, and the ability to collaborate effectively across departments are essential for success in this role.

Roles and Responsibilities:

- Conduct comprehensive research on governance issues across sectors such as public health, education, rural development, and infrastructure. Analyse government policies, schemes, and frameworks to identify gaps and opportunities.

- Extract and clean large datasets (e.g., UDISE, NSSO, MIS, electoral rolls). Design and implement basic quantitative models in order to identify trends, performance metrics, and forecasts

- Develop reports, policy briefs, dashboards, and presentations for internal stakeholders and government officials highlighting insights and strategic recommendations

- Assist in implementing governance initiatives by developing frameworks, preparing action plans, tracking progress, evaluating impact, and suggesting course corrections

- Work closely with government departments, program teams, and external partners ensuring alignment, data sharing, and confidential stakeholder management

- Maintain a structured repository of program data, model outputs, and documentation to support cross team use and future reference

Requirements for the position:

- Bachelor's or Master's degree from a Tier 1 academic institution, preferably in Political Science, Economics, Social Sciences, or Law.

- Able to conduct both secondary and primary research swiftly extracting relevant information and summarizing key findings.

- Strong grasp of Indian governance systems, policy making cycles, and the political ecosystem

- Clear, structured writing and presentation skills suitable for both technical and nontechnical audiences, including senior level and government stakeholders

- Curious, proactive, and capable of designing solutions from first principles

- High professionalism, confidentiality, and ability to manage diverse stakeholders with tact and efficiency.

- Experience with government data sources (UDISE, NSSO, CMIE, MIS systems) and familiarity with policy evaluation, impact assessment methods (RCTs, difference-in-differences) would be preferable but not essential
