BIW: Process Engineer

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and optimize manufacturing processes for body-in-white (BIW) assembly, including welding, joining, and assembly operations.
  • Conduct process feasibility studies, analysis, and simulations to evaluate manufacturing techniques and technologies for BIW components and structures.
  • Design and implement process improvements, tooling modifications, and equipment upgrades to enhance productivity, quality, and efficiency.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including design engineering, production, and quality assurance, to ensure seamless integration of manufacturing processes.
  • Develop and maintain process documentation, including work instructions, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and process control plans.
  • Conduct root cause analysis and troubleshooting of process issues, implementing corrective and preventive actions to minimize downtime and defects.
  • Participate in new product development projects, providing input and expertise on manufacturability, process optimization, and cost reduction.
  • Stay informed about industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in BIW manufacturing, implementing continuous improvement initiatives accordingly.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory standards in all manufacturing processes and operations.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field.
  • Proven experience in process engineering or manufacturing engineering roles, preferably in automotive or manufacturing industries.
  • Strong knowledge of body-in-white (BIW) assembly processes, techniques, and technologies, including welding, joining, and assembly methods.
  • Proficiency in process simulation tools, such as AutoCAD, CATIA, or Siemens NX, for process feasibility studies and analysis.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to identify and resolve complex technical issues.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams.
  • Experience with lean manufacturing principles, continuous improvement methodologies, and Six Sigma concepts.
  • Knowledge of safety, quality, and regulatory standards in manufacturing environments.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally for project meetings, supplier visits, and customer support.

  • Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field.
  • Professional certification in lean manufacturing or Six Sigma.
