The Database team aims at providing a secure, self-service and cost-effective database platform for Microsoft SQL Server, MariaDB and Oracle technologies.

The Database team is therefore in charge of all aspects of those databases lifecycle, from automation development to security & compliancy, via tooling and operations, in a critical, highly available enterprise environment.

To guarantee such offering, the Database team is organized in a 24x7 follow-the-sun organization, with collaborators located Bogota and US.

Summary of the role :

The Database Administrator will assist the database operations team in the implementation, configuration, security, maintenance, and performance tuning/monitoring of the Amadeus database tier as assigned.

The focus of this role is to ensure the availability and performance of existing and future enterprise applications through the use of Microsoft SQL Server (MSSQL), MySQL, Oracle, Postgres, Mongo, Couchbase, and other emerging database technologies.

You will partner closely with cross-functional teams that include Development, Product and Architecture to ensure delivery of our applications at the highest level of quality and performance.

In this role youll :

- Plan, document, allocate, install, and configure database servers (with appropriate patch level and within current security standards) with a strong emphasis on high availability and fault tolerance and disaster recovery including multi-site high-availability as required.

- Plan, create, implement, monitor, and maintain backup solutions via automation, as well as perform backup restore validation tasks.

- Design, build, maintain database monitoring solutions for 100's of databases, several of which are in the multiple terabyte range across data platforms.

- Manage databases through phases of the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC), from development through critical Production systems.

- Manage and create standards, procedures, and policies for governing database environments.

- Provide escalation support, troubleshooting and resolution assistance, and performance tuning aid for the platform and operational database teams.

About the ideal candidate :

Basic Qualifications And Skills : A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or Business.

Preferred Qualifications And Skills :

- 8+ years managing Microsoft SQL Server database technologies, such as MSSQL 2016 2022, SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS), SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS)/Azure Data Factory (ADF), and other Azure related database technologies in a critical, highly available enterprise operation.

- Experience working with Azure or other cloud providers, MySQL, Oracle(19c), Postgres, MongoDB, and/or Couchbase is a plus.

Travel Requirements (include all applicable regions and corresponding percentages) potential travel to North America, South America, and/or Europe (5%).

Computing :

- Certification in one or more database platforms is preferred.

- Able to troubleshoot complex database engine performance or technical issues.

- Collaborate with and understand the infrastructure team dependencies on the database environment.

- Ability to plan and execute tasks related to maintenance, upgrades, failovers and other database system sustaining activities as required.

Languages : Fluent in English is required.

Specific knowledge :

- Knowledge of HW, OS (Windows), and storage technologies.

- Proficient with RDBMS memory architecture and associated tuning techniques.

- Proficiency in various scripting languages.

- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work in abstract situations.

- Understanding of capacity management concepts and techniques.

- Demonstratable knowledge on DB tuning tools.

Others : Other industry certifications such as SAFe or ITIL a plus.
