Purpose of the Position (Short Summary of the Role):
To support Chief safety Manager for the compliance of legal & other requirements. Carry out plant safety inspections and audits in order to observe the physical condition of work and the work practices and the procedures followed by workers. Check and evaluate the effectiveness of action taken or proposed to be taken to prevent personal injuries. Conduct investigation of industrial accidents& ensure the same is done by respective departments for minor injuries.
Authority:
Issue work permit to concern department. Issue VW Driving authorization as per the request of concern department. Issue safety violations against the non-conformities of work permit activities & recommend penalty as per guidelines. Carry out Equipment validations.

Key Responsibilities &Tasks:
Legal Compliance:
- Monitor the Factory legal compliance for Pune plant.
- Collect the necessary information & documents required to Obtain & renew Factory License
- Collect the necessary information & documents required for New projects plan approval from Factory Inspection office
- Legal Safety Audit & compliance. Safety risk assessment & compliance.
- Accident/incident reporting to Factory Inspection office. Coordination of investigation by Factory inspection office & compliance of measures.
- Compliance of submission of Emergency Preparedness, Mock Drill & other documents applicable for Major Accident hazard factory as per legal requirements.
- Compliance w.r.t. third party inspections & submission of reports to Factory Inspection office.
- Conduct Safety committee meetings & compliance monitoring.
Implementation of Indian/European standards of Safety in plant.
Safety Management System
- Coordination with all departments safety coordinators for Implementation of ISO 45001 Safety Management System at Pune Plant,
- Implement common Safety procedures for Pune plant,
- Coordination with all safety coordinators to Conduct Safety Risk Assessment of plant
- Develop Safety Training Modules for Induction, High Risk Safety, Project Safety, Non routine activities etc.
- Safety audits/gap assessment and compliance thereof.
- Contractor Safety management (Construction, Logistics & plant maintenance contractors).
- Prepare MIS for dept. & management for monitoring effective implementation.
Implementation of effective safety management system in Safety Index for shops, plant areas.
Operations
- Communicate Safety Metrics (Index) to all necessary stakeholders to ensure implementation of new standards.
- Conduct inspections of occupational incidents, injuries and property damage for safety review.
- Perform Safety audits, inspections of facility, plants, machinery to identify and correct potential issues.
- Conduct and coordinate safety training programs (inbound/outbound) across the levels in the Pune Plant
- Conduct & coordinate Hazard Recognition training program. Behavior based safety observations, Safety Index improvement tours in the plant
- Monitor all high risk/ Non routine activities through work permit system
- Monitor Sunday/holiday. Shut down activities to ensure effective control measures to prevent the incidents.
Experience Required : Minimum 8 years to 15 years in Safety Function
Qualification: Degree or Diploma in any branch of engineering or technology and Advance Diploma in Industrial Safety
