Description :Team Leadership & Project Management : - Lead, mentor, and manage a team of 10+ database professionals to deliver high-quality, timely, and efficient database solutions.- Oversee end-to-end database development, maintenance, and performance improvement projects.- Allocate resources, define project timelines, and ensure adherence to SLAs and quality standards.- Provide technical guidance, code reviews, and performance feedback to team members.- Collaborate with business stakeholders, developers, testers, and infrastructure teams to align database solutions with business goals.Database Design & Development : - Design and implement logical and physical data models ensuring data integrity, normalization, and scalability.- Develop, enhance, and maintain complex SQL and PL/SQL scripts, stored procedures, triggers, and packages for business applications.- Perform data transformation and migration activities for system enhancements and new product rollouts.- Ensure data consistency and integrity across multiple environments (development, testing, production).Performance Tuning & Optimization : - Conduct query optimization and performance tuning using advanced diagnostic tools such as Explain Plan, SQL Trace, TKPROF, AWR, and ADDM reports.- Analyze and improve database performance, indexing strategies, and partitioning mechanisms.- Identify and resolve slow-running queries, locking issues, and resource bottlenecks.- Implement database monitoring and proactive maintenance practices to minimize downtime.Requirement Analysis & Stakeholder Management : - Participate in requirement gathering, impact analysis, and technical design discussions with business and IT stakeholders.- Translate functional requirements into scalable and optimized technical database solutions.- Provide technical feasibility studies and effort estimations for new projects and enhancements.- Collaborate with reporting teams to support MIS reporting and analytics needs.Documentation & Compliance : - Create and maintain comprehensive technical documentation, including database design documents, ER diagrams, data flow diagrams, and process logic.- Ensure compliance with organizational policies, data governance, and security standards.- Support audits, data validation, and DR (Disaster Recovery) procedures.- Promote best practices for RDBMS concepts, indexing, partitioning, and normalization.Skills & Competencies Required : - Strong expertise in SQL and PL/SQL programming (Oracle, MySQL, or PostgreSQL preferred).- Proven experience in database performance tuning, query optimization, and troubleshooting.- Deep understanding of RDBMS concepts, normalization, indexing, partitioning, and data modeling.- Hands-on experience with Explain Plan, TKPROF, AWR, and SQL Trace analysis.- Proficiency in ETL processes, data transformation, and data migration methodologies.- Familiarity with MIS reporting and life insurance / BFSI domain is highly desirable.- Experience with database security, backup, and recovery mechanisms.- Strong knowledge of Unix/Linux shell scripting for database operations is a plus.- Excellent analytical, debugging, and problem-solving skills.- Strong communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills with an ability to manage multiple priorities.Qualifications : - Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.- 12-14 years of experience in database development and management, with at least 35 years in a team lead or supervisory role.- Relevant certifications in Oracle / Microsoft SQL / PostgreSQL / Data Management are preferred.Preferred Tools & Technologies : - Databases : Oracle 12c/19c, PostgreSQL, MySQL, SQL Server- Performance Tools : AWR, TKPROF, SQL Developer, TOAD, OEM- Scripting : PL/SQL, Shell scripting- ETL / Reporting : Informatica, Power BI, or similar tools- Version Control & CI/CD : Git, Jenkins (ref:hirist.tech)
