Senior, Software Development Engineer in Test

About the role : Senior SDET - Data will play a key role in the quality engineering efforts for Alkami's data platforms, pipelines, and analytics systems. You will be responsible for designing and implementing automated testing frameworks, ensuring data integrity, and driving quality standards throughout the data lifecycle. This role requires a hands-on approach to testing complex data solutions while collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver scalable, high-quality products. Roles & Responsibilities ● Design, build, and maintain robust automated Data and UI test frameworks for data lakes, warehouses, ETL pipelines, and analytics reporting. ● Develop test strategies for functional, integration, regression, and performance testing of data pipelines. ● Create and execute data validation scripts to ensure accuracy, consistency, and integrity across large-scale data platforms. ● Collaborate with data engineers and developers to establish quality engineering best practices and integrate testing into the development lifecycle. ● Act as a quality advocate by identifying potential risks in data systems and ensuring mitigation strategies are in place. ● Partner with DevOps teams to enhance CI/CD pipelines with comprehensive test coverage. ● Analyze test results and provide actionable insights to improve system scalability and reliability. ● Mentor Junior SDETs, guiding them on advanced testing methodologies, tools, and problem-solving techniques. ● Lead peer reviews for test code, ensuring adherence to quality standards and coding best practices. ● Monitor data quality in production and proactively address issues to minimize impact. ● Participate in cross-functional design discussions to promote testable and maintainable system designs. Job requirement : Typically requires a minimum of 8 years of related experience ● Programming: Strong proficiency in Python and SQL, with the ability to create and maintain automated test scripts and frameworks. ● Big Data Testing: Experience testing big data and pipelines, including Apache Airflow, Spark, or equivalent. ● Cloud Platforms: Proficiency with AWS big data services such as Glue, S3, EMR, and Athena, with hands-on experience in validating cloud-based data solutions. ● Data Governance: Understanding of data governance principles, including validation, privacy, and compliance standards. ● Performance Testing: Proven ability to test and validate the performance and scalability of data systems. ● Report Tools: Hands-on experience with reporting and visualization tools such as Amazon QuickSight, Tableau, or Power BI. ● Data Streams: Knowledge of data streaming tools such as Kafka or Kinesis, with experience testing real-time pipelines. ● DevOps Integration: Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), and infrastructure-as-code tools. ● Strong analytical and problem-solving skills for identifying and resolving complex data quality issues. ● Effective communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across cross-functional teams and articulate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders. ● A proactive mindset with the ability to work independently and drive initiatives to completion. Preferred ● MPP Data Warehouses: Exposure to massively parallel processing (MPP) data warehouses like Redshift, Greenplum, or Snowflake. ● Secure Coding Practices: Knowledge of secure coding principles and tools like AWS Lake Formation. ● Industry Expertise: Experience in FinTech or SaaS environments, understanding the unique challenges of data quality in these domains.
