Responsibilities

Financial Reporting & Analysis:

Prepare, analyze, and present financial statements, including monthly, quarterly, and annual reports, often involving variance analysis. 

Account Management:

Manage and reconcile accounts payable and receivable, general ledger accounts, and fixed asset schedules. 

Compliance:

Ensure adherence to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and internal policies, and support internal and external audits. 

Budgeting & Forecasting:

Participate in the budgeting and forecasting processes, monitor budget vs. actual performance, and provide recommendations for improvement. 

Internal Controls:

Develop, document, and implement business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls. 

Process Improvement:

Identify inefficiencies, suggest improvements to accounting systems and procedures, and develop documentation for new policies. 

Staff Supervision:

Oversee and mentor junior accounting staff, plan their work, and review their tasks. 

Audits & Taxes:

Assist with tax returns, coordinate with external auditors, and support internal audit processes. 

Qualifications & Skills

Education:

A bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field is typically required; many positions prefer a master's degree or CPA certification. 

Experience:

Several years of prior experience in accounting, sometimes including supervisory experience. 

Technical Skills:

Proficiency with accounting software packages (e.g., QuickBooks, FreshBooks) and advanced Microsoft Excel skills are essential. 

Analytical Skills:

Strong analytical, problem-solving, and quantitative skills to analyze complex data and identify errors. 

Attention to Detail:

A high degree of accuracy and attention to detail is crucial for financial work. 

Communication Skills:

Excellent communication skills to present financial information to executives and consult with personnel on accounting procedures. 



Requirements
Work experience as an Accountant. Excellent knowledge of accounting regulations and procedures, including the Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) Hands-on experience with accounting software like FreshBooks and QuickBooks. Advanced MS Excel skills including Vlookups and pivot tables.
