Role: Alation Data Modeler Location: Hyderabad/Chennai Experience: 3 to 5 yearsSkills: Data Modeling & Metadata Management: Develop and maintain logical and physical data models usingAlationand other modeling tools. Curate and manage metadata, business glossaries, and lineage information in theAlation Data Catalog . Collaborate with data architects and engineers to align models with enterprise data standards. Process Design & Automation: Define and implementdata onboarding, cataloging, and approval workflowsin Alation. Streamline metadata ingestion from sources like BigQuery, Snowflake, Teradata, or GCS. Contribute todata governance and stewardshipprocesses for improved data discoverability and compliance. Data Validation & Quality Assurance: Develop and executedata validation checksto ensure accuracy, completeness, and consistency across systems. Implementautomated validation frameworksusing SQL, Python, or data quality tools. Track and resolve data issues through Alation workflows and lineage traceability. Collaboration & Enablement: Partner with data owners, analysts, and governance teams to enhance catalog adoption. Conduct training and knowledge-sharing sessions on Alation usage, modeling best practices, and validation standards. Support audits and compliance reporting through metadata and process documentation.Required Skills & Qualifications: Strong hands-on experience withAlation Data Catalog(metadata curation, lineage, and governance workflows). Proficiency indata modeling tools and standards(ER/Studio, Erwin, DBT, or equivalent). ExcellentSQLanddata validationskills across relational and analytical databases. Experience withdata quality frameworksandvalidation automationusing Python or similar scripting languages. Good understanding ofdata governance, lineage, and cataloging processes . Experience working withcloud data platforms(GCP BigQuery, Snowflake, or Azure Synapse).Preferred Qualifications: Exposure todata observabilityanddata issue triagingprocesses. Knowledge ofbusiness glossary integration ,policy enforcement , andAlation APIs . Familiarity withETL/ELT pipelinesand metadata harvesting from tools like Airflow, Informatica, or DBT.
