Group Company: HFCL Designation: Shift Engineer – Coating / Ground / Furnace Floor Location: Hyderabad (Manufacturing Plant) Department: Draw Tower (New_HP_OF_DT) Reporting To: Head – Draw Tower Position Overview The Shift Engineer will be responsible for managing day-to-day operations at the Optical Fibre Draw Tower, ensuring efficient production, quality output, and adherence to safety and operational standards. The role requires hands-on experience in fibre drawing sub-processes such as furnace, die floor, and centralized coating systems, preferably with exposure to Draw Tower technologies from Nextrom, S.G. Controls, Conductix Delachaux, or ZTT . Primary Responsibilities Operate and monitor all die floor activities across three shifts as per standard operating procedures (SOPs). Ensure achievement of shift production targets, maintaining required yield and product quality. Maintain all equipment in optimal working condition and ensure minimal downtime. Conduct regular inspections and submit shift performance and progress reports. Identify operational inefficiencies and recommend corrective or improvement measures. Ensure accurate and timely production data entries in ERP systems. Troubleshoot process and operational issues during the shift. Operate and manage centralized coating systems, including changeovers and maintenance coordination. Additional Responsibilities Adhere to all Quality Management System (QMS) and Environment, Occupational Health & Safety (EOHS) standards. Maintain a safe and hazard-free workplace, minimizing risks of slips, trips, and physical injuries. Promptly report near-miss incidents or safety-related concerns. Educational Qualifications Degree: Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma Specialization: Mechanical Engineering or related discipline Work Experience Industry: Optical Fibre Manufacturing Experience: Relevant experience in draw tower operations and fibre drawing processes preferred Key Competencies & Skills Strong knowledge of die floor fibre drawing processes and coating systems Excellent process troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities Proficiency in Microsoft Office and production reporting tools Understanding of raw materials, process equipment, and waste generation management Knowledge of fire extinguishers and plant safety procedures Customer-focused mindset with commitment to quality and continuous improvement Strong analytical, planning, and scheduling capabilities Effective communication and teamwork skills Behavioral Attributes Achievement Orientation: Sets high standards and strives for excellence Self-Confidence: Demonstrates ownership and positive self-belief Commitment: Displays strong work ethic and accountability Persistence: Maintains a positive, solution-oriented approach under pressure Flexibility: Adapts quickly to changing operational requirements Integrity: Practices openness, honesty, and ethical behavior Leadership: Provides guidance and constructive feedback to team members
