Position Title: Scientific Assistant

Reports to: Senior Scientific Officer / Radiological Safety Officer


Key Responsibilities:

Laboratory Operations:

  • Conduct routine laboratory tests and experiments in accordance with protocols.
  • Prepare and calibrate scientific instruments and equipment.
  • Collect, analyze, and record data accurately.

Sample Handling and Analysis:

  • Receive, label, and process samples, ensuring adherence to safety and procedural guidelines.
  • Perform qualitative and quantitative analyses using advanced techniques relevant to the lab's focus.

Research Support:

  • Assist Senior Scientific Officer and Radiological Safety Officer in executing experimental designs and methodologies.
  • Contribute to report writing, documentation, and data interpretation.

Compliance and Quality Assurance:

  • Ensure strict adherence to BARC accreditation standards, including maintaining ISO/IEC 17025 guidelines.
  • Regularly monitor and document laboratory quality assurance programs.

Safety and Maintenance:

  • Follow and enforce laboratory safety protocols, including radiation safety
  • Oversee the proper disposal of chemical, biological, or radiological waste.
  • Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting of lab instruments.

Administrative Duties:

  • Maintain inventory of chemicals, reagents, and other consumables.
  • Assist in preparing purchase orders and coordinating procurement of lab supplies.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree (B.Sc./B.Tech.) in Physics, Chemistry, Biology, or a related field. Master’s degree preferred.
  • Experience: 1-3 years of experience in a scientific or research lab, preferably in a BARC-accredited facility.
  • Technical Skills:
  • Proficiency in using laboratory instruments
  • Familiarity with software for data analysis (e.g., MS Excel, SPSS, or similar).
  • Certifications : Radiation safety certification, ISO/IEC 17025 training.
