We are one of India's leading apparel manufacturers, producing over 1 million garments a year with a work force of 1500+ people. We work with major high street labels such as Gant, Lyle & Scott, Nordstrom, Mango, Marc O Polo, Timberland, and John Varvatos amongst others. We specialise in a variety of products such as Casual Chinos, Trousers, and Jackets made from woven fabrics including cotton, polyester, wool, etc.
We are currently looking for a General Manager for one of our production plants which has a workforce of 1000 people and setup of 450 machines. The factory is based in Salem, Tamil Nadu and specialises in Trousers and Jackets. This role entails end to end responsibility of the production unit – Budgeting, Man Management, Production Efficiency, Compliance, Quality, Customer handling, etc. The unit consists of fabric & Trim stores, cutting, 7 sewing lines, pre and post wash operations, finishing, and packaging.
The ideal candidate should have the following background
- Must have worked in a related manufacturing industry (apparel, leather, yarn, fabric) for a minimum of 15 years and at the most senior level. Woven apparel manufacturing experience is preferred.
- Must have extensive knowledge in budgeting, industrial engineering, manpower management, factory laws, fabrics, quality control, and social + safety compliances.
- Must be willing to live in Salem, Tamil Nadu long term
- Must be able to manage a workforce of 1000 employees (including both local and migrant workers) and have experience in handling large scale worker disputes, wage negotiations, mass recruitment, and performance reviews.
- Must be able to liaise with government officials as well as auditing firms for all factory related work
- Strong growth mindset with the ability to establish entirely new production facilities
