Job Description:

We are seeking a talented and experienced Founding UI/UX Design Lead to spearhead the design of our next-generation business planning platform. As a design-led tool, Oculon AI is centered around delivering an exceptional user experience through intuitive and aesthetically pleasing interfaces. This role is perfect for a design leader who is passionate about product design, has a strong background in SaaS, and excels in translating complex requirements into seamless user experiences.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Product Design Leadership: Lead the end-to-end design process, from conceptualization to implementation, ensuring a user-centered approach that aligns with our product vision and business goals.
  • Design to Code: Collaborate closely with frontend developers to ensure a smooth transition from design to code, ensuring pixel-perfect execution and maintaining design integrity.
  • SaaS UI/UX Expertise: Design intuitive and efficient user interfaces for a complex SaaS platform, focusing on optimizing user workflows and enhancing overall usability.
  • Figma Mastery: Utilize Figma as the primary design tool for creating wireframes, high-fidelity mockups, and interactive prototypes, ensuring all design assets are well-organized and easy to hand off to developers.
  • Brand Identity: Develop and maintain a cohesive brand identity across all touchpoints of the platform, ensuring visual consistency and a strong brand presence in the market.
  • Design Systems: Establish and evolve a comprehensive design system that supports scalability and consistency, including UI components, patterns, and guidelines.
  • User Research and Testing: Conduct user research and usability testing to inform design decisions, continuously iterating based on feedback and analytics to enhance the user experience.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with product management, engineering, and AI teams to ensure the design aligns with technical capabilities and product requirements, while also pushing the boundaries of innovation.
  • Mentorship: As the team grows, mentor and lead junior designers, fostering a culture of creativity, collaboration, and excellence in design.


Requirements:

  • Extensive experience in UI/UX design, with a strong portfolio showcasing your work on SaaS products, demonstrating your ability to create intuitive and visually compelling user interfaces.
  • Proficiency in Figma, with a deep understanding of its capabilities for designing, prototyping, and collaborating within a team environment.
  • Strong ability to translate design concepts into code-friendly assets and work closely with developers to ensure accurate implementation.
  • Experience in developing and maintaining design systems, with a focus on scalability and consistency across a complex platform.
  • Proven track record of creating and maintaining a strong brand identity through thoughtful and consistent design practices.
  • Strong understanding of user-centered design principles and methodologies, with hands-on experience in user research and usability testing.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects in a fast-paced startup environment.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to articulate design decisions and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.


Good to have:

  • Previous experience in a design leadership role within a SaaS company.
  • Familiarity with front-end development frameworks and an understanding of how design decisions impact code.
  • Interest or experience in AI-driven interfaces and data visualization.
  • A background in finance or an understanding of FP&A processes would be advantageous.
