Description :We are seeking a highly skilled and proactive Senior Infrastructure Engineer to join our team in Trivandrum, Kerala.This is an on-site, full-time role.The ideal candidate will be instrumental in managing, optimizing, and ensuring the high availability and security of our critical IT infrastructure.We are looking for an individual with a strong foundation in server administration, cloud environments, and automation, preferably an immediate joiner.Location : Trivandrum, Kerala (On-site)Experience Required : 4+ YearsEmployment Type : Full-timeKey Responsibilities : Infrastructure Management & Optimization :- Manage, monitor, and maintain all core IT infrastructure components, including servers, storage, networking, and operating systems, ensuring optimal performance, reliability, and security.- Utilize VMware expertise to manage and optimize our virtualized server environment, including host maintenance, resource allocation, and troubleshooting.- Oversee Production Support operations, acting as a final escalation point for complex infrastructure issues and driving swift resolution to minimize downtime and business impact.Automation & Scripting :- Develop, maintain, and execute Shell scripting (Bash, PowerShell, etc.) to automate routine system administration tasks, infrastructure provisioning, and deployment processes.- Implement and manage automation tools to increase operational efficiency and consistency across the infrastructure.System Administration & Configuration :- Plan, schedule, and execute regular Patch Management across all servers and infrastructure components to maintain system security and stability.- Administer and utilize SCCM (System Center Configuration Manager) for large-scale deployment, configuration, and inventory management of client and server systems.IT Service Management & Compliance :- Adhere to and enforce ITSM (IT Service Management) best practices (e.g., ITIL), including Change Management, Incident Management, Problem Management, and Service Request Fulfillment.- Maintain accurate infrastructure documentation, SOPs, and runbooks.Cloud & Future-State Infrastructure :- Participate in the design and implementation of new infrastructure solutions, including migrations to and management of cloud environments (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP).- Evaluate new technologies and tools to recommend and implement improvements to the existing infrastructure architecture.Required Skills and Qualifications :- A minimum of 4 years of hands-on experience in IT infrastructure engineering or a similar role.- Strong experience in Production Support for critical, high-availability systems.- Expertise in VMware vSphere administration and management.- Proven experience with large-scale Patch Management processes and tools.- In-depth knowledge and hands-on experience with SCCM for system configuration, deployment, and health monitoring.- Solid understanding of ITSM principles and experience working within a formal ITSM framework (e.g., ITIL Foundation certified a plus).- Proficiency in Shell scripting (Bash/PowerShell) for automation and operational tasks.- Demonstrated experience in server operating systems (Windows Server and/or Linux).- Strong understanding of networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, firewalls, load balancing).Preferred Qualifications :- Relevant certifications (e.g., VMware Certified Professional - VCP, Microsoft Certified : Azure Administrator Associate, AWS Certified SysOps Administrator - Associate).- Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Terraform or Ansible.- Familiarity with monitoring tools (e.g., Zabbix, Nagios, Prometheus).- Experience in managing database infrastructure (SQL Server, MySQL, etc.) (ref:hirist.tech)
