Key Responsibilities:

  • Formulate and Develop Products: Lead the creation of new colour cosmetic formulations, ensuring they meet performance, stability, and regulatory standards.
  • Raw Material and Ingredient Selection: Research and select the ideal ingredients — including pigments, active ingredients, and raw materials — to meet both customer needs and product requirements.
  • Conduct Testing: Perform stability, compatibility, and performance testing to ensure the quality, safety, and effectiveness of products.
  • Refine Formulations: Use consumer feedback and testing results to fine-tune product formulas, ensuring they meet the desired specifications such as shade, texture, and finish.
  • Ensure Compliance: Ensure all formulations meet the safety and regulatory requirements for various markets, including global standards like FDA, EU, and other regional guidelines.
  • Incorporate Trends: Stay up-to-date with the latest trends in colour cosmetics, such as natural or vegan ingredients, sustainable packaging, and multifunctional products, and incorporate these into product development.
  • Create Prototypes and Kits: Design and develop formulation prototypes, customer-specific kits, and exhibition kits for trade shows and product showcases.
  • Collaborate and Report: Collect and analyze data from testing, provide solutions to any issues, and present findings to stakeholders through detailed reports and reviews.
  • Quality Control and Presentation: Ensure the final product meets quality standards, prepare for batch production, and professionally present prototypes or products for client review and trade show exhibitions.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in product development within the cosmetics or related industry.
  • Strong knowledge of formulation chemistry, including pigment blending, active ingredients, and stability testing.
  • Experience with regulatory compliance and industry standards (FDA, EU regulations, etc.).
  • Familiarity with the latest trends in cosmetics, including natural ingredients, vegan formulations, and sustainability.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail when refining formulations and conducting testing.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to present findings and recommendations to both internal teams and external clients.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across teams and with customers to meet specifications and deadlines.
  • A creative mindset, with an understanding of how to match a product’s technical qualities with a consumer’s needs and market trends.
