Role Summary :

We are seeking a skilled Test Automation Engineer to join our QA team supporting a leading US-based banking client. This individual contributor role focuses on building, maintaining, and executing automated test suites using Playwright (JavaScript) for complex, high-traffic web applications. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with browser automation, REST API validation, CI/CD integration, and working collaboratively within Agile teams alongside developers and product stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities :

- Develop and maintain robust, modular automated test suites using Playwright (JavaScript) for end-to-end testing of web applications.

- Implement user interaction tests including navigation, input, clicks, waits, context isolation (multi-tab, multi-user), and custom locator strategies.

- Debug flaky tests, configure headless/headful execution, and ensure cross-browser compatibility.

- Write and execute REST API test cases, validate responses, and automate API testing workflows using Postman or equivalent tools.

- Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins or similar platforms; monitor execution, logs, and failure reports.

- Collaborate with developers and product teams in Agile environments to ensure quality at all stages of the sprint lifecycle.

- Use version control tools like Git for source code management, branching, and pull requests.

- Log defects, track progress in JIRA or TestRail, and participate in sprint planning, grooming, and review sessions.

- Analyze web application DOM structure and use CSS selectors effectively for reliable test automation.

- Participate in peer reviews and contribute to improving QA best practices and standards.

Must-Have Skills :

- At least 5 years experience in QA

- Minimum 2 years hands-on experience with Playwright (JavaScript), building and maintaining test cases for user interactions, handling multi-tab and multi-user context isolation, custom locators, assertions, and browser compatibility testing.

- Strong JavaScript (ES6+) scripting skills including modular test design, async/await syntax, and Promise management.

- Practical experience with REST API testing using Postman or similar tools; understanding HTTP methods, authentication, response validation, and payload assertions.

- Experience integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines (preferably Jenkins), with the ability to trigger jobs, pass parameters, and analyze build logs.

- Proficiency with Git for version control, including cloning repositories, branching, pull requests, and conflict resolution.

- Familiarity with test management tools like JIRA or TestRail, including defect logging and sprint cycle participation.

- Strong understanding of web technologies such as HTML, DOM traversal, CSS selectors, shadow DOM, and browser debugging techniques.

- Experience working in an Agile delivery environment with sprints, backlog grooming, story pointing, and daily stand-ups.

Nice-to-Have Skills :

- Exposure to HyperExecute (LambdaTest) for test parallelization and cloud execution management.

- Basic knowledge of running Playwright tests inside Docker containers and environment configuration.

- Experience with performance testing using Playwright or Lighthouse for metrics like page load time and TTI.

- Experience mentoring junior QA engineers and conducting peer reviews of automated test scripts.

Qualifications :

- Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field preferred.

- Minimum 2+ years of relevant experience in test automation focusing on JavaScript and Playwright.
