Role: Business Finance Specialist (OU Support)

Base: Mumbai, India


What you will become a part of?

The successful candidate will support the day-to-day finance operations including but not restricted to budgeting, MIS local tax working, intercompany/interdivisional reconciliations, fund flow statements, business/financial planning, accounting, and commercial operations for one of Shalina’s business clusters in sub-Saharan Africa.


What to expect?

  • Manage and coordinate the financial functions and team ensuring respective financial and accounting tasks are concluded within set timelines.
  • Providing and interpreting financial reports.
  • Ensure timely generation of monthly management accounts and yearly financial reports for external audit as requested and within set timelines.
  • Establish accurate budgets, forecasts, financial simulations, and specific analyses and reports in consultation with the relevant executive team members and the business head.
  • Support the development of sound financial management policies, procedures, and controls to ensure compliance with the accepted accounting standards.
  • Monitor promotional scheme updates & standard price changes in the system.
  • Oversee product costing & related MIS reports.
  • Oversee timely preparation of the annual budget, budgetary controls, and variance analysis reports.
  • Oversee preparation of monthly debtor position, cash flow statements, and bank reconciliation statements.
  • Oversee timely preparation of periodic financial reports and statements.
  • Oversee the development of appropriate financial information management systems.
  • Ensure timely remittance of statutory deductions and general compliance with statutory requirements.
  • Set and give direction on controls; sales policies and Navision system policy, ensuring compliance.
  • In charge of all internal controlling aspects and financial processes to ensure business integrity.
  • Monitor, review, and assess financial performance while evaluating options and implementing initiatives to continually improve finance performance.
  • Ensure tax compliance, statutory payments, and remittance within set time frames.
  • Conduct reviews and evaluations for cost reduction opportunities.


What are we looking for?

  • Tertiary finance qualifications such as CA or MBA Finance are highly preferred along with relevant post-qualification experience of at least 5 years.
  • Prior experience delivering finance support to businesses remotely, experience supporting businesses in emerging markets highly preferred.
  • Advanced MS Excel Skills: Proficiency in advanced Excel functions, including pivot tables, data analysis, VLOOKUP, HLOOKUP, INDEX-MATCH, and complex formulas.
  • Financial Analysis: Strong understanding of financial principles and the ability to conduct financial analysis, interpret financial data, and generate meaningful reports.
  • Data Visualization: Ability to create visually appealing and informative reports using tools like Excel charts and graphs or specialized data visualization tools.
  • Financial Modeling: Experience in building financial models for forecasting, budgeting, and scenario analysis.
  • Accounting Knowledge: Familiarity with accounting principles and practices to ensure accurate financial reporting.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Knowledge of financial regulations and compliance requirements relevant to the industry.
  • ERP Systems: Experience with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems, such as SAP & Navision/ Business Central or Oracle, used for financial management.
  • Attention to Detail: Meticulous attention to detail is critical for accuracy in financial reporting and analysis.
  • Problem-Solving Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to identify and resolve financial and data-related issues.
  • Communication Skills: Effective communication skills to convey financial insights and analysis to non-financial stakeholders.
  • Time Management: Efficient time management to meet financial reporting deadlines and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
