We are seeking an experienced Lead Database Engineer to join our dynamic team at Mrikal. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining high-performance database systems that power our cutting-edge digital solutions across various industries. You will lead database architecture decisions, manage a team of database professionals, and ensure optimal performance of our mission-critical database infrastructure.


Responsibilities:

  • End-to-End ownership of database infrastructure and performance
  • Manage and mentor a team of database administrators
  • Design, implement, and maintain highly available and scalable database solutions
  • Develop and implement database strategies for high-volume transactional systems
  • Create and maintain disaster recovery and backup procedures
  • Optimize database performance through monitoring, tuning, and capacity planning
  • Implement robust security measures and access control policies
  • Establish and enforce database standards and best practices
  • Collaborate with development teams to optimize database design and query performance
  • Manage database upgrades, patches, and migrations
  • Monitor database performance and respond to security incidents
  • Develop automation scripts for routine database maintenance tasks
  • Create and maintain technical documentation
  • Provide 24/7 on-call support for critical database issues


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Database Engineer
  • Proven experience with high-volume transactional database systems
  • Strong expertise in PostgreSQL administration and optimization
  • Experience managing and scaling database systems processing millions of transactions daily
  • Proficiency in database backup, recovery, and high availability solutions
  • Strong knowledge of database security best practices
  • Experience with database monitoring and performance tuning tools
  • Expertise in SQL query optimization and troubleshooting
  • Familiarity with automation tools and scripting (Python, Bash, etc.)
  • Experience with version control systems (Git)
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent communication and leadership abilities

Preferred Expertise:

  • Experience with database clustering and replication technologies
  • Knowledge of cloud-based database services (AWS RDS, Google Cloud SQL)
  • Familiarity with containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes)
  • Experience with database proxy solutions (PgBouncer, HAProxy)
  • Understanding of distributed database systems
  • Knowledge of NoSQL databases (MongoDB, Cassandra)
  • Experience with database migration tools and strategies
  • Certification in relevant database technologies
  • Experience with data warehousing and ETL processes
