Lead Backend Engineer | Hyderabad (Hybrid)Work Model- Location: Hyderabad (Hybrid – 2 days onsite) - Experience Level: 5+ years - Shift Timing: Regular IST hoursAbout the RoleAs part of our exciting growth journey, we’re expanding our Software Engineering team and are on the lookout for a talented Lead Backend Engineer to join us on a hybrid basis in our Hyderabad office.This is a rare opportunity to work on high-impact greenfield products for some of the most iconic global sports brands. You’ll play a key role in building modern, scalable software systems from the ground up, shaping the future of fan engagement and digital innovation in global sport.We’re looking for a collaborative and hands-on engineer who thrives on solving complex problems with elegant, scalable solutions. You’ll lead by example—writing clean, maintainable code while fostering a culture of continuous learning, technical excellence, and innovation.Key Responsibilities- Write clean, efficient, and reusable backend code following best practices and coding standards. - Lead and influence technical design, architecture, and backend development of digital projects. - Work closely with Engineering Managers, Product Managers, and Frontend teams to define and deliver robust technical solutions. - Set up development frameworks for automation, CI/CD, release management, and code quality. - Provide technical mentorship and guidance to mid- and junior-level engineers. - Be a champion of developer experience, always seeking to improve efficiency and maintainability. - Promote a blameless culture of learning, code review, and technical excellence. - Stay up to date with emerging backend technologies and best practices, particularly in sports and digital innovation.Requirements- 5+ years of software engineering experience, with at least 2 years in a lead or senior backend role. - Strong hands-on experience with Node.js, JavaScript, and TypeScript. - Solid understanding of database systems, including: - Document-based: MongoDB - Relational: MySQL or PostgreSQL - Familiarity with frontend frameworks (React, Angular, or Vue.js) and RESTful API design. - Strong grasp of software architecture principles and design patterns for scalable systems. - Understanding of DevOps culture, including CI/CD pipelines, containerization, and cloud deployments (AWS or similar). - Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate across teams and stakeholders. - A continuous learner with a growth mindset, eager to improve both technically and professionally.Nice to Have- A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent field. - Experience working in sports, media, or digital fan engagement platforms. - Exposure to microservices architecture or serverless computing.
