Job Description:

We are seeking a talented UX Designer to create intuitive, engaging, and user-friendly web-based applications in the eCommerce space. You will work on developing seamless user experiences for desktop and web interfaces that improve usability, accessibility, and conversions. Your deep understanding of visual design, user-centered design (UCD), and collaboration with Ruby on Rails and Shopify developers will be crucial. Key Responsibilities:

  • Design engaging and intuitive user interfaces for web-based applications, focusing on desktop and browser-based experiences.
  • Create user flows, wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity mockups that prioritize smooth navigation, easy access to information, and a conversion-focused user journey.
  • Apply strong visual design principles, including color theory, typography, and layout, to create clean, consistent, and attractive web interfaces.
  • Utilize User-Centered Design (UCD) methodologies to ensure designs meet user needs, improve usability, and enhance the overall customer experience.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Ruby on Rails and Shopify developers, to bring designs to life and optimize the user experience across web platforms.
  • Ensure consistency across all web touchpoints and maintain a cohesive design language that aligns with the company’s brand and goals.
  • Conduct user testing, A/B testing, and analyze web-based user interactions to continually optimize web layouts, information architecture, and user flows.
  • Create responsive web designs that work seamlessly across a variety of screen sizes, focusing on desktop-first web applications.
  • Stay up-to-date with eCommerce trends and best practices, specifically for web-based shopping experiences.


Requirements:

  • 3+ years of experience as a UX Designer, with a specific focus on web-based applications in the eCommerce industry.
  • Strong expertise in visual design principles like color theory, typography, and layout to create visually compelling web interfaces.
  • Experience with User-Centered Design (UCD) principles and designing web interfaces that address real user needs.
  • Proven experience in Shopify and familiarity with Ruby on Rails, with an understanding of how to design for these platforms.
  • Proficiency in design tools such as Figma, Sketch, Adobe XD, Photoshop, Illustrator, or similar.
  • Experience with A/B testing, user testing, and using web analytics to refine designs and improve web-based user flows and conversions.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to articulate design concepts and collaborate with developers and stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of responsive design and a focus on creating web interfaces that work well on all screen sizes, with an emphasis on desktop usability.


Nice to Have:

  • Familiarity with front-end technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) to better understand development constraints and collaborate with development teams.
  • Experience with SEO and CRO (Conversion Rate Optimization) for web platforms.
  • Knowledge of web performance optimization strategies to ensure fast, efficient, and smooth user experiences.


Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in UX Design, Visual Design, Human-Computer Interaction, or a related field.
