Description :DAZN is the worlds leading sports entertainment platform delivering live and on-demand sports streaming to millions of fans across the globe.Our Hyderabad Technology Hub plays a pivotal role in shaping the platform that powers experiences for fans everywhere.Join a team that thrives on innovation, scale, and performance in a fast-paced, global sports-tech environment.About the Role :Were looking for an experienced Backend Engineering Manager with deep expertise in Node.js and modern backend architecture to lead a high-performing team building scalable, resilient APIs and services that power DAZNs next-gen sports streaming experience.You will drive technical excellence, coach engineers, collaborate cross-functionally with product, data, and platform teams, and ensure our systems deliver seamless fan experiences worldwide.Responsibilities :- Lead and mentor a team of backend engineers working primarily with Node.js, TypeScript, and AWS.- Design, develop, and optimize high-volume, low-latency APIs and microservices supporting millions of DAZN users.- Partner with Product, Architecture, and DevOps teams to deliver high-impact, scalable backend solutions.- Establish and drive best practices in code quality, CI/CD, testing, and observability.- Manage sprint planning, technical design reviews, and delivery timelines.- Recruit, retain, and grow world-class backend talent.- Foster a collaborative engineering culture rooted in continuous learning and ownership.- Work closely with stakeholders across global teams (UK, Poland, Japan, and Italy).Requirements :- 10+ years of total experience with at least 3+ years in people management.- Proven expertise in Node.js (Express, NestJS, or similar frameworks) and Java.- Solid knowledge of RESTful APIs, GraphQL, microservices, and event-driven architecture.- Hands-on experience with AWS services (Lambda, ECS, DynamoDB, S3, etc.) and containerization (Docker/Kubernetes).- Strong understanding of CI/CD pipelines, monitoring, and logging tools.- Hands on Code Reviews.- Experience with TypeScript, SQL/NoSQL databases, and message brokers (Kafka, SNS/SQS).- Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.- Exposure to streaming, media tech, or OTT systems is a plus.Nice to Have :- Experience working in distributed global teams.- Understanding of security, caching, and performance optimization at scale.- Passion for sports, streaming, and cutting-edge backend technologies.Why Join DAZN :- Work on global sports streaming technology used by millions.- Be part of an inclusive, fast-moving, high-impact engineering culture.- Opportunity to influence architecture and tech direction at scale.- Hybrid work flexibility, great perks, and a passionate global team.
