Job Overview:
The Academic Counsellor for Study Abroad will serve as a trusted advisor to students and their families throughout the process of planning, applying, and transitioning to international educational institutions. This individual will provide personalized guidance, resources, and support to help students navigate the complexities of studying abroad and ensure a seamless and fulfilling experience. The ideal candidate will possess strong interpersonal skills, a deep understanding of higher education systems, and a passion for empowering students to pursue academic excellence on a global scale.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide comprehensive academic counselling to students interested in studying abroad, including program selection, university research, application procedures, and visa requirements.
- Conduct individual consultations with students and their families to assess their academic backgrounds, career aspirations, and personal preferences, and develop customized study plans tailored to their needs.
- Guide students through the entire application process, including preparing application materials, writing personal statements, and securing letters of recommendation.
- Assist students in researching and selecting suitable universities and academic programs based on their interests, academic profiles, and financial considerations.
- Coordinate with university representatives, admissions officers, and scholarship providers to obtain accurate and up-to-date information on admission requirements, deadlines, and scholarship opportunities.
- Organize and facilitate informational workshops, seminars, and events to educate students and parents about study abroad options, application strategies, and cultural considerations.
- Provide ongoing support and guidance to students throughout the visa application process, including document preparation, interview preparation, and visa application submission.
- Maintain accurate and detailed records of student interactions, application status, and outcomes using CRM software or other tracking systems.
- Stay updated on global trends in higher education, immigration policies, and study abroad best practices to provide relevant and timely advice to students.
- Collaborate with internal teams, including admissions advisors, academic advisors, and administrative staff, to ensure a seamless and positive experience for students throughout their study abroad journey.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Education, Counselling, International Relations, or related field; Master's degree is a plus.
- Previous experience in academic advising, counselling, or student services, preferably in a study abroad or international education context.
- Strong knowledge of higher education systems, academic programs, and admission requirements in popular study abroad destinations such as the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia, and Europe.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport, establish trust, and communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders, including students, parents, faculty, and university representatives.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time management skills, able to prioritize tasks and manage multiple responsibilities simultaneously.
- Cultural sensitivity and awareness of cross-cultural communication dynamics, with the ability to support students from diverse backgrounds and nationalities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, CRM software, and other relevant tools.
- Commitment to providing exceptional service and support to students and families throughout the study abroad process.
- Experience required : 6 months – 5 years .
