Assistant Financial Controller

What will you drive?
The Controller for Record to Report (R2R) will be responsible for overseeing the entire R2R process within the organization, ensuring the accurate and timely recording, reporting, and reconciliation of financial transactions. This role will manage key accounting activities, including the preparation of financial statements, general ledger maintenance, month-end closing, and internal controls, to support the company's financial reporting objectives. The Controller will also work closely with other departments, ensuring compliance with accounting policies, regulatory requirements, and corporate financial goals.
Key Responsibilities:
General Ledger Management:
Oversee the general ledger to ensure accurate financial data recording, ensuring that all journal entries and balances are correct.
Review and approve journal entries and month-end close activities.
Month-End & Year-End Close:
Supervise the month-end and year-end closing processes, ensuring all financial transactions are recorded and reconciled accurately.
Prepare consolidated financial statements (balance sheet, income statement, cash flow) in accordance with company policies and accounting standards (GAAP/IFRS).
Financial Reporting:
Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports, including variance analysis, to ensure timely and accurate reporting to management.
Present reports and analysis to senior management, highlighting key financial trends and risks.
Account Reconciliations:
Ensure timely completion of account reconciliations, including bank and intercompany reconciliations, ensuring discrepancies are resolved promptly.
Manage the reconciliation of balance sheet accounts on a monthly basis and ensure any reconciling items are investigated and corrected in a timely manner.
Internal Controls and Compliance:
Ensure compliance with company policies, accounting standards, and local regulatory requirements.
Continuously assess and improve internal control systems, ensuring appropriate safeguards are in place to prevent fraud and financial misstatement.
Team Leadership & Collaboration:
Manage and mentor the R2R accounting team, providing guidance, training, and performance evaluations.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams (e.g., Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Tax, Audit) to ensure seamless financial reporting and processes.
Continuous Improvement:
Identify opportunities for process improvements within the R2R function and lead initiatives to streamline operations.
Implement best practices and new accounting tools/technologies to improve efficiency and effectiveness of the R2R process.
Audit and Tax Support:
Support external auditors during financial audits by providing necessary documentation and explanations.
Assist in tax reporting and compliance processes, including preparation of necessary filings.
Who are we looking for?
Minimum 5-7 years of experience in accounting or finance, with at least 2-3 years in a supervisory role within R2R.
Strong experience with month-end closing, financial reporting, general ledger accounting, and account reconciliations.
Familiarity with financial reporting systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics).
Experience in a multinational environment or managing global financial operations (preferred).
