Background

The South Asia Regional Infrastructure Connectivity (SARIC) is an Australian Government funded initiative that aims to increase connectivity between energy and transport investments both within and across the South Asia Region (Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Nepal, Sri Lanka and Maldives) through two fold approaches – (a) identification of a pipeline of transport and energy projects that connect the economies of the South Asia region, to be financed by an appropriate mix of public and private financing & (b) Training and Networking Services targeted at individuals from the public and private sector directly involved in the preparation and/or eventual delivery of the projects / senior decision makers in the infrastructure sector, covering private and public sector officials, academics, and senior civil society members. While (a) will be anchored by the World Bank and the International Finance Corporation, (b) will be managed by Palladium.


The Training Services component aims to enhance knowledge and address skill gaps reported by projects of the World Bank and IFC including aspects of gender equality, inclusion of vulnerable sections, disability, and safeguards. The Networking Services component on the other hand aims to enhance the knowledge and skills of course participants by providing them with multiple channels to engage with experts, academia, industry, networks and peers from infrastructure, energy, transport, and allied sectors. Networking under SARIC, aims to strengthen engagement with key institutions, foster international linkages, promote dialogue with industry and the private sector, showcase Australian innovation and expertise; all in line with promoting deep linkages between Australia and the South Asia region.


SARIC trainings are delivered as customised short courses between 2022-2025 addressing the capacity gaps identified by the World Bank and IFC in select transport and energy projects across South Asia for individuals in two streams as below:

Individuals from the public and private sector directly involved in the preparation and/or eventual delivery of the projects identified by the World Bank and IFC under (a) above; and

Senior decision makers in the infrastructure sector, covering private and public sector officials, academics, and senior civil society members.


This EOI is for onboarding personnel to support the design and delivery of various aspects of the SARIC Training component.


Purpose of Role

The Training Services component aims to enhance knowledge and address skill gaps reported by projects of the World Bank and IFC including aspects of gender equality, inclusion of vulnerable sections, disability, and safeguards. Objectives of training include to:


  • Technical capacity building relevant to individuals working on the preparation of specific SARIC supported infrastructure projects.
  • General capacity building for regional leaders to support best practice in regional leadership and approaches to planning, financing, and implementation of infrastructure projects.


Besides, SARIC TNS also works towards development and nurturing of networks:


In the region made up of individuals who have participated in training to support capacity building and regional approaches to infrastructure development and support between the region and Australian private sector, government, academic and civil society, as relevant to SARIC projects and regional leadership objectives.


The purpose of the role is to work along the Project Team in executing the below mentioned activities related to the training component of the program. The role will entail support for (not limited to):

  • Develop and manage the online short courses calendar for SARIC TNS
  • Coordination with training providers alongside Operations and Procurement Manager
  • Facilitate the organisation of pre departure and post departure briefings as per SARIC protocols
  • Manage SARIC in Workplace (SiW) Component- planning, compliance and storing on Share Point in close coordination with Project Coordinator
  • Work with Operations team to ensure timely visa filing, correct documentation and flagging issues in advance
  • Support Operations Lead and Project Coordinator in briefing the training providers on SARIC branding guidelines, SiW etc
  • Ensure branding compliance on social media, training materials, external and internal reports, etc.
  • Coordination on SARIC branded merchandise with training/ networking partners
  • Work with Project Coordinator on designing of carousels / collages / documents for social media
  • Maintain minutes of SARIC Working Group Meetings
  • Research and analysis support for new trainings, context monitoring, etc.
  • Any other tasks as reasonably requested by Team Lead
