Role Overview for VP-Finance:
The VP-Finance will lead the financial strategy and operations to drive business growth and scalability. This role involves developing and executing financial plans, managing investor relations, overseeing financial operations, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements. The VP-Finance will provide strategic insights to the Founder, Business Heads and board, manage financial risks, and optimize resources. Additionally, they will build and mentor a high-performing finance team, fostering a culture of accountability and innovation to support the company’s long-term success.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Financial Leadership:
Develop and execute the company's financial strategy to support business objectives and long-term growth.
Provide strategic recommendations to the Founder, Business Heads and board of directors based on financial analysis and forecasts & Identify and manage financial risks while optimizing resources for scalability.
Financial Planning & Analysis:
Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and financial modelling processes.
Analyze financial performance, identify trends, and implement corrective actions to achieve targets.
Develop and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure business success.
Creating and adhering to Annual Operating Plans (AOP) with budgets to have insights on the business performance
Fundraising & Investor Relations:
Lead efforts to secure funding, including equity and debt financing.
Build and maintain relationships with investors, presenting financial updates and business progress.
Prepare and deliver investor materials, including pitch decks, financial models, and due diligence documentation.
Operational Excellence:
Oversee day-to-day financial operations, including accounting, payroll, and cash flow management.
Implement and improve financial systems, processes, and internal controls.
Ensure compliance with legal, tax, and regulatory requirements.
Team Leadership:
Build, lead, and mentor a high-performing finance team.
Foster a culture of accountability, transparency, and innovation within the finance department.
Qualifications & Skills
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field (MBA or CA preferred).
Experience:
Proven experience as a VP/Head Finance or senior financial executive, preferably in a startup or high-growth environment.
Track record of successful fundraising and managing investor relations.
Strong understanding of financial regulations, corporate governance, and startup financial challenges.
Technical Skills:
Expertise in financial modelling, forecasting, and analysis.
Proficiency with financial software and tools (e.g., Tally, QuickBooks, NetSuite, or similar).
Soft Skills:
Strategic thinker with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Exceptional leadership and team-building skills.
Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex financial concepts to non-financial stakeholders
