Position: Tax Manager (Direct & Indirect Tax)

Location: Pune, India

Experience: 12-15 years


Key Responsibilities:


1. Tax Compliance Management:

- Ensure timely and accurate filing of GST, VAT, and direct tax returns.

- Handle assessments, audits, and appeals related to indirect and direct taxes.

- Maintain compliance with all tax regulations and ensure adherence to statutory requirements.


2. Tax Planning and Strategy:

- Develop tax-efficient strategies to optimize the organization's tax liabilities.

- Provide guidance on tax implications of business decisions and transactions.

- Monitor changes in tax laws and regulations and advise management on their impact.


3. Data Analysis and Reporting:

- Utilize SAP and Excel to manage and analyze tax data effectively.

- Prepare detailed reports, forecasts, and projections related to indirect and direct taxes.

- Identify tax saving opportunities and cost-saving initiatives through data analysis.


4. Process Improvement:

- Develop and implement Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for tax processes.

- Streamline tax workflows to enhance efficiency and accuracy in compliance.

- Continuously assess and improve internal controls related to tax matters.


5. Documentation and Compliance:

- Maintain comprehensive documentation of tax records and filings.

- Ensure compliance with tax-related export and import documentation requirements.

- Coordinate with external advisors and consultants on specialized tax issues.


6. Team Management and Leadership:

- Lead and mentor a team of tax professionals, providing guidance and training as necessary.

- Foster a collaborative environment focused on achieving tax compliance and strategic goals.


Requirements:


  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Taxation, or related field. Additional certifications like CA, CPA, or equivalent preferred.
  • Experience: 12-15 years of progressive experience in handling GST, VAT, and direct tax matters, including returns, audits, assessments, and compliance.
  • Technical Skills:
  • Proficiency in SAP for tax accounting and reporting.
  • Advanced Excel skills for data manipulation and analysis.


Knowledge:


  • Thorough understanding of Indian tax laws, regulations, and compliance requirements.
  • Experience with tax-related export and import documentation.
  • Attributes:
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects and deadlines effectively.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for liaising with internal stakeholders and external advisors.
  • Preferred Experience:
  • Prior experience in a Big 4 accounting firm would be advantageous.
  • Proven track record in developing and implementing tax strategies that contribute to organizational goals.
