Job title: Manager – Indirect Tax Manager

Location: Pune.

Terms: Full time.

CTC: Rs. 4.2 Lacs to Rs. 5.4 Lacs


About the role:

The Indirect Tax Manager will oversee all aspects of indirect tax compliance, planning, and advisory services within the organization. This role involves managing VAT/GST, sales and use taxes, excise duties, and other indirect taxes. The ideal candidate will ensure compliance with international, federal, state, and local regulations, develop strategies to minimize tax liabilities, and manage relationships with tax authorities and external advisors.


Tax Compliance and Reporting

  • Oversee the preparation and submission of indirect tax returns (e.g., VAT, GST, sales tax, use tax, excise duties).
  • Ensure timely and accurate filing of all indirect tax returns.
  • Maintain detailed records of tax payments and documentation.


Tax Planning and Advisory

  • Develop and implement tax-efficient strategies to minimize indirect tax liabilities.
  • Provide guidance on the indirect tax implications of business transactions, contracts, and projects.
  • Advise on the tax impact of legislative changes and ensure compliance with new regulations.


Audit and Controversy Management

  • Manage indirect tax audits and inquiries from tax authorities.
  • Prepare and review responses to tax authority inquiries.
  • Negotiate and resolve tax disputes with relevant authorities.


Process Improvement and Automation

  • Identify opportunities to improve tax processes and enhance efficiencies.
  • Implement tax technology solutions to automate compliance processes.
  • Ensure the integrity of tax-related data and systems.


Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Collaborate with finance, legal, procurement, and other departments to ensure integrated tax planning.
  • Educate internal stakeholders on indirect tax matters and compliance requirements.
  • Support the finance team with tax provision calculations and disclosures for financial statements.


Risk Management

  • Conduct risk assessments and develop strategies to mitigate indirect tax risks.
  • Ensure internal controls are in place and functioning effectively.
  • Monitor indirect tax exposures and implement mitigation strategies.


Experience:


•Minimum 2 – 2.5 years of experience in a CA firm with a strong focus on audits and direct taxes.


Technical Skills:


•In-depth knowledge of auditing standards and practices.

•Comprehensive understanding of direct tax laws, regulations, and compliance requirements.

•Proficiency in using accounting and tax software like Tally Prime, etc.


Analytical Skills:

•Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.


Communication Skills:

•Excellent verbal and written communication skills (in English).
