Job Title: Lead Engineer - Data Analytics and Reporting


Job Description:


Summary:

As the Lead Engineer for Data Analytics and Reporting, you will be responsible for driving the development and implementation of data analytics solutions and reporting tools. This role requires expertise in various analytics and reporting platforms such as Power BI, SSRS, and Tableau, along with experience in building custom reporting solutions and dashboards within web-based SaaS platforms. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in data analytics, visualization, and software engineering, coupled with leadership skills to guide the team towards delivering impactful insights to stakeholders.


Responsibilities:


1. Analytics and Reporting Strategy:

- Develop and execute the overall strategy for data analytics and reporting initiatives to meet business objectives.

- Identify opportunities to leverage analytics and reporting to drive business insights and decision-making.


2. Tool Selection and Implementation:

- Evaluate and select appropriate analytics and reporting tools, considering factors such as functionality, scalability, and integration capabilities.

- Lead the implementation and configuration of tools such as Power BI, SSRS, and Tableau to support reporting requirements.


3. Custom Reporting Solutions:

- Design and develop custom reporting solutions and dashboards within SaaS platforms to meet specific business needs.

- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and implement solutions that provide actionable insights.


4. Data Visualization:

- Create visually appealing and insightful dashboards and reports using best practices in data visualization.

- Ensure that reporting solutions effectively communicate key metrics and trends to stakeholders.


5. Data Integration and Modeling:

- Oversee the integration of data from multiple sources into reporting platforms, ensuring data accuracy and consistency.

- Collaborate with data engineers to design and implement data models that support reporting requirements.


6. Performance Optimization:

- Optimize the performance of reporting solutions and dashboards to ensure fast and efficient data retrieval and visualization.

- Monitor and analyze system performance metrics to identify areas for improvement.


7. Team Leadership:

- Provide leadership and guidance to a team of data analysts and engineers, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous learning.

- Mentor team members and help them develop their skills in data analytics, reporting, and software engineering.


Qualifications:


- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or related field; Master's degree preferred.

- Proven experience in a data analytics or reporting role, with demonstrated expertise in analytics and reporting tools such as Power BI, SSRS, and Tableau.

- Experience building custom reporting solutions and dashboards within SaaS platforms.

- Strong understanding of data visualization principles and best practices.

- Proficiency in data integration, modeling, and manipulation.

- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions.

- Leadership experience, with the ability to inspire and motivate a team towards achieving common goals.

- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with stakeholders at all levels.


Preferred Skills:


  1. Experience with other analytics and reporting tools such as QlikView, Looker, or Google Data Studio.
  2. Knowledge of SQL, Python, or other programming languages for data manipulation and analysis.
  3. Familiarity with cloud platforms such as Azure or AWS.
  4. Certification in data analytics or business intelligence tools.
