Qualifications: B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering


Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in vehicle design engineering, with a focus on chassis systems.


Role Overview:


EMotorad is looking for a Chassis Design Expert who will play a pivotal role in the conceptualization, design, and development of chassis systems for our new vehicle models. This role requires expertise in 3D/2D design, consideration of weight and cost targets, and a deep understanding of manufacturing processes.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design of chassis systems, including layout and design of all parts, with a focus on finalising the layout to meet performance and cost targets.
  • Generate feasible design concepts, utilizing advanced surfacing and 3D modeling techniques in Solidworks or similar CAD tools.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify load and boundary conditions, prepare design validation plans, and monitor testing results to ensure compliance with performance requirements.
  • Drive value analysis/value engineering (VA/VE) initiatives to reduce product material costs while maintaining quality standards.
  • Conduct vendor evaluations to assess technical and process capabilities, ensuring alignment with project requirements.
  • Prepare design manuals and documentation to facilitate manufacturing processes and ensure consistency in design execution.
  • Provide technical leadership and support to junior engineers, guiding them in project execution and problem-solving.


Skills:

  • Proficiency in 3D modeling and 2D drawing using Solidworks or similar CAD software.
  • Strong understanding of design for manufacturing (DFM), design for assembly (DFA), failure mode effects analysis (FMEA), and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Extensive knowledge of chassis design principles, manufacturing processes, and material selection.
  • Experience in leading design projects from concept to production, with a proven track record of delivering results on time and within budget.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.


Preferred Experience:

  • Experience with UG NX and Fusion360 CAD software.
  • Previous involvement in full vehicle development projects, particularly in the electric vehicle (EV) industry.
  • Familiarity with structural analysis, finite element analysis (FEA), and computational fluid dynamics (CFD) tools.
