Job Description:

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced City Reporter/Correspondent with a specific focus on health-related news to join our editorial team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for covering health beats, reporting on medical advancements, public health issues, healthcare policies, and other health-related topics that impact the city. The role requires a journalist with a passion for in-depth reporting, a strong understanding of health and medical terminology, and the ability to translate complex information into clear, engaging stories for our audience.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Health Beat Coverage: Monitor and report on health-related issues, including public health trends, medical advancements, healthcare policies, hospital news, and community health matters.
  • Citywide Reporting: Cover health events, press conferences, and other relevant local news to ensure timely and accurate reporting.
  • Research and Investigations: Conduct interviews with healthcare professionals, researchers, public health officials, and affected citizens. Dig deep into health-related stories to provide well-researched, fact-checked news pieces.
  • Story Writing: Write clear, compelling, and informative articles for print and digital platforms, ensuring that content is accurate and accessible to a broad audience.
  • Content Creation: Create multimedia content (video, photos, and audio) to complement health stories when necessary.
  • Network Building: Develop and maintain strong relationships with key contacts in the healthcare and medical field, including hospitals, research institutes, and public health departments.
  • Stay Updated: Keep abreast of the latest developments in the health sector, both locally and globally, to ensure timely reporting on significant trends and issues.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with the editorial team and other reporters to provide comprehensive coverage of citywide news.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience as a city reporter or correspondent, with a specific focus on health beats.
  • Strong understanding of health and medical issues, including the ability to report on complex topics such as public health, medical research, and healthcare systems.
  • Excellent writing, editing, and reporting skills.
  • Strong network within the healthcare sector, including contacts with doctors, hospitals, public health officials, and other experts.
  • Familiarity with multimedia journalism tools and social media for content promotion.

Qualifications:
