The ideal candidate will be responsible for the performance, integrity, and security of our databases. This role requires a proactive individual who can design, implement, and maintain database systems while ensuring data availability, protection, and recovery.Key Responsibilities:Database Design & Implementation: Design and implement database solutions based on business requirements, ensuring scalability, performance, and security.Maintenance: Perform regular maintenance tasks such as backups, updates, and optimizations to ensure database performance and availability.Security: Implement and maintain database security measures, including user access controls, data encryption, and regular security audits to protect sensitive information.Performance Tuning: Monitor database performance, tune queries, and optimize server configurations to reduce latency and improve throughput.Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve database issues promptly, minimizing downtime and data loss. This includes handling complex SQL queries, stored procedures, and functions.Data Migration & Integration: Manage data migration between systems, ensuring data integrity and consistency during upgrades or system changes.Backup and Recovery: Develop and test disaster recovery plans to ensure business continuity in case of data loss or system failures.Documentation: Maintain comprehensive documentation of database architecture, configurations, and procedures.Collaboration: Work closely with developers, data analysts, and other IT staff to facilitate database-related tasks and support application development.Compliance: Ensure databases comply with industry standards and regulatory requirements (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA).Qualifications:Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years in database administration.Technical Skills: Proficiency in SQL and experience with major database systems like MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle, or Microsoft SQL Server.Knowledge of database design, capacity planning, and data modeling.Experience with database backup and recovery strategies.Familiarity with cloud database solutions (e.g., AWS RDS, Azure SQL Database) is a plus.Soft Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, excellent communication abilities, and the capacity to work both independently and in a team environment.Additional Desirable Skills:Experience with scripting languages like Python or PowerShell for automation tasks.Understanding of cloud computing concepts and services.Knowledge of data warehousing, ETL processes, and BI tools.Physical Requirements: Ability to sit for extended periods; manual dexterity for computer use.Compensation: Competitive salary based on experience, with opportunities for performance bonuses.
