Job description:


JAGGAER is seeking a Sr. MySQL DBA with AWS RDS and Aurora experience. The DBA will administer, plan, coordinate, implement, and maintain the MySQL environments for the JAGGAER development and SaaS production environments. The DBA will assist with charting a strategy for the future expansion of the platforms and educating peers on MySQL, RDS, and Aurora. Additional responsibilities will include designing data models, data movement, monitoring the database for potential problems, setting up appropriate maintenance plans, configuring disaster recovery contingencies and plans, and creating end-user reports as needed.


Job Responsibilities :


  • Tune databases and applications: rewriting SQL, adding indexes, tuning of views, interpreting explains plans, performing reorgs in MySQL.
  • Select appropriate database classes/instances for the desired workload and size them once running. Tune and optimize these in an ongoing, as-needed basis.
  • Oversee and provide technical direction in designing, installing, configuring, maintaining, troubleshooting, testing, monitoring, and analyzing the performance of the Cloud and on-prem Databases.
  • Design database solutions - gathering server requirements, installing and creating databases, performance tuning, monitoring – for new and existing functionalities.
  • Check DB health, validate background process and memory utilization, and performance tuning.
  • Support the development team in the migration to new database software versions.
  • Develop processes for optimizing database governance & security, costs, backup and recovery, and performance monitoring standards.
  • Write documentation exhaustively, especially where no documentation currently exists.
  • Leverage strong command of AWS SQL (MySQL) tools.
  • Administer an Enterprise Infrastructure, which includes physical, virtual, and cloud-based servers, local and network storage, and backup systems.
  • AWS Product knowledge and experience administering, migrating, and optimizing AWS database infrastructure. Performance tuning of database systems. Configure and maintain AWS DR replication strategies.


Technical Experience/Education


Required:


  • Bachelor’s degree in information systems, Computer Science, Statistics, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of DBA experience in AWS/MySQL and broad knowledge of AWS data resources.
  • 3+ years writing PL/Python, PowerShell, or other scripts.
  • Tune, manage, optimize, patch, and maintain AWS instances.
  • Advanced knowledge and expertise with multiple Database technologies such as AWS running Aurora MySQL cluster.
  • 2+ years’ experience working in automation and DevOps.
  • 2+ years designing and implementing Highly Available, resilient Database Infrastructure in AWS.
  • 2+ years of experience in migrating on-premises workloads to the public cloud.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills for cloud DBs with PaaS and IaaS offerings.
  • Experience with serverless, dedicated, and hyper-scale DB platforms in AWS.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a self-starting personality.
  • Ability to maintain, modify, and cultivate Database security.
  • Ability to work in a multi-platform DBA team and coordinate with peers.
