Position Overview:

The Head of New Product Development will play a pivotal role in leading both the new product development process and the operations of the Pattern shop within the foundry. The ideal candidate will also possess a proven track record of successful product development and pattern shop management.


Work Location: Coimbatore (Relocation is required in case of outstation candidates)


Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Planning: Develop and execute strategic roadmaps for new product development initiatives and Pattern shop operations, considering the unique capabilities and resources at Ranba
  • New Product Development: Lead cross-functional teams through the foundry industry’s product development lifecycle, emphasizing cost-effective approaches, while maintaining high-quality standards to meet customer specifications.
  • Pattern shop Operations: Direct the day-to-day activities of the Pattern shop, optimizing resource utilization and workflow efficiency to meet production needs. Supervise regular pattern inspections to ensure quality & mitigate rejections.
  • Team Leadership: Provide hands-on leadership and guidance to the New Product Development and Pattern shop teams, fostering a culture of collaboration and adaptability.
  • Project Management: Implement streamlined project management methodologies to ensure timely delivery of new products and reworked patterns within budgetary constraints, leveraging available resources effectively.
  • Resource Optimization: Continuously evaluate and optimize the allocation of resources, including personnel, equipment, and materials, to enhance productivity in both new product development and Pattern shop activities.
  • Training and Development: Identify skill gaps within the teams and provide targeted training and development opportunities to enhance capabilities and adaptability in response to evolving needs.
  • Customer Management: Maintain regular communication with customers to understand their specific casting requirements and ensure their needs are met. Build and nurture strong, long-term relationships with customers.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Masters in relevant field preferred
  • Minimum of 15 years of experience in new product development and Pattern shop management in the foundry industry.
  • Proven track record of successfully managing Pattern shop operations.
  • Proficiency in CAD/CAM tools (sound knowledge of Solidworks preferred)
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire and motivate cross-functional teams.
  • Excellent project management capabilities, with a focus on delivering results within budget and timeline constraints.
  • Deep understanding of foundry operations, materials, and manufacturing processes.
  • Proficiency in MS Excel for documenting and reporting, and data analysis
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships and influence stakeholders at all levels of the organization
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Good working knowledge of Lean Six Sigma, SMR, and other improvement methodologies/ tools and techniques
