We are seeking a highly skilled FHIR Engineer to join for one of our esteemed clients who has a pioneering Healthnet start-up focused on solving real-world healthcare challenges through innovative, tech-driven solutions for our mobile development team.

Who You Are:

You are a skilled engineer with experience in developing healthcare applications using FHIR standards and a strong background in building scalable, secure back-end systems for electronic medical records/electronic health records (EMR/EHR). You are familiar with HL7 v2.x and have experience integrating with Electronic Health Information Exchange (HIE) platforms such as NABIDH, Riayati, or Malaffi. You enjoy working in a dynamic environment, collaborating with a diverse team, and contributing to the advancement of healthcare data exchange and interoperability.

You will:

• Develop back-end solutions for EMR/EHR using FHIR standards.
• Build APIs and integration points for seamless data exchange with external and internal systems.
• Collaborate with other engineers, product managers, and stakeholders to define requirements and implement robust, scalable integrations.
• Keep up-to-date with healthcare interoperability standards and best practices to ensure compliance and optimize performance.

What You'll Do:

• Develop APIs and integration points for data exchange with external systems (e.g., hospitals, labs, pharmacies) and internal applications (web, mobile).
• Create and manage FHIR resources, servers, and APIs to support seamless data integration across platforms.
• Integrate with healthcare information exchanges such as NABIDH, Riayati, or Malaffi.
• Manage data mapping and transformation processes to support various healthcare data formats (e.g., HL7 v2.x, CDA, DICOM).
• Optimize and maintain the backend infrastructure, including PHP frameworks and SQL databases, to ensure high availability, performance, and scalability.
• Implement automated testing, continuous integration, and deployment practices.
• Document technical specifications, integration processes, and system configurations for internal and external stakeholders.
• Maintain familiarity with EMR/EHR certification standards and best practices.

What We're Looking For:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent experience.
• 3+ years of experience in software engineering with a focus on healthcare applications, particularly EMR/EHR systems.
• Proven experience with FHIR standards (must-have) and familiarity with HL7 v2.x standards (preferred).
• Experience integrating with healthcare information exchanges like NABIDH, Riayati, or Malaffi.
• Proficiency in PHP backend frameworks (e.g., Laravel, Symfony) and SQL databases (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL).
• Experience with RESTful API design, development, and integration with external systems.
• Knowledge of cloud platforms (e.g., Azure, AWS, Google Cloud) and experience deploying and managing back-end services in a cloud environment.
• Understanding of healthcare regulations and compliance (e.g., HIPAA, GDPR, ISO 27001, SOC-2, ADHICS).
• Strong problem-solving skills, a collaborative mindset, and a desire to contribute to a growing startup environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with Azure or AWS cloud services, particularly in deploying secure, scalable back-end applications.
• Familiarity with containerization and orchestration tools (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
• Knowledge of clinical workflows and healthcare operations.
• Experience in healthtech startups or developing healthcare solutions.
• Familiarity with EMR/EHR certification standards.
• Relevant certifications, such as HL7 FHIR Proficiency Certification, AWS Certified Solutions Architect, or Microsoft Certified: Azure Developer Associate.
