Position Overview
  • As a Build and Release Engineer, join a team that is shaping the future of the build and release platform at ServiceNow. Your expertise is vital in advancing, scaling, automating, and enhancing the infrastructure, software, processes, and services essential for supporting enterprise software development, quality engineering, and production releases. Your responsibilities include:
  • Developing the next iteration of the Build and Release platform for a rapidly expanding development sector.
  • Managing and optimizing source code tools, build tools (Git/GitHub/Jenkins/Maven/Nexus).
  • Deploying, monitoring, and administrating virtual servers in AWS to augment the Build and Release Platform.
  • Collaborating with Kubernetes to deploy Jenkins and other application servers on AWS.
  • Streamlining provisioning through Chef automation.
  • Adopting and integrating tools effectively.
  • Tackling troubleshooting, problem-solving, root cause analysis, and documentation.
  • Enhancing and supporting the build pipeline.
  • Overseeing branching and code repository management.
  • Creating productivity tools and plugins.
  • Automating tasks wherever applicable.
Qualifications
  • 3-5 years of hands-on experience in automation, build & deployment processes, and configuration management.
  • Strong proficiency in Linux and networking.
  • Skilled in one or more scripting languages.
  • Experience in source code management and branching.
  • Familiarity with automated build and release systems.
  • Passionate about automation, continuous improvement, and DevOps principles.
  • Excellent communication skills, both interpersonal and virtual.
  • Security and compliance-oriented mindset.
  • Thorough understanding of the software development lifecycle.
  • Committed to delivering exceptional customer service.

Preferred:

  • Background in developing automation within large enterprise-scale development environments.
  • Experience in inter-team training and knowledge exchange.
  • Adept at tuning and scaling Linux systems.
  • Proficient in managing, debugging, and enhancing build systems.
  • Familiarity with agile methodologies.
  • Expertise in several technologies including Git/GitHub, Maven/Nexus, Ruby/Perl/Shell Scripting, Jenkins, AWS, Chef, Linux (CentOS/Fedora/RedHat), Kubernetes/Docker.
