Job Description:

Title: Release Technical Engineer (RTE)

Experience: Minimum 8 years

Roles and Responsibilities:

Release Management:

Lead the planning, coordination, and execution of software releases across multiple environments, ensuring smooth and timely delivery of product updates.

Define release schedules, milestones, and success criteria in collaboration with cross-functional teams, including development, QA, and product management.

Monitor release progress, identify potential risks and dependencies, and proactively address issues to minimize impact on release timelines.

Deployment Automation:

Design, implement, and maintain automated deployment pipelines to streamline the release process and improve deployment reliability.

Develop scripts and tools for configuration management, infrastructure provisioning, and application deployment using industry-standard DevOps practices.

Continuously optimize deployment workflows and tools to enhance efficiency, scalability, and repeatability.

Environment Management:

Manage development, testing, staging, and production environments, ensuring consistency and alignment with project requirements and specifications.

Coordinate environment setup, configuration, and maintenance activities, including version control, database migrations, and network configurations.

Implement policies and procedures for environment isolation, security, and access control to protect sensitive data and resources.

Quality Assurance and Testing:

Collaborate with QA engineers to define and implement automated testing strategies, including unit tests, integration tests, and end-to-end tests.

Establish quality gates and acceptance criteria for release candidates, conducting thorough testing and validation to ensure product readiness.

Monitor test results, track defects, and work with development teams to prioritize and address issues in a timely manner.

Change Management:

Facilitate change control processes, including version control, branching strategies, and code review workflows, to maintain code integrity and traceability.

Communicate release plans, status updates, and post-mortem reports to stakeholders, highlighting key milestones, achievements, and lessons learned.

Implement best practices for change management, including documentation standards, release notes, and knowledge sharing sessions.

Continuous Improvement:

Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance release processes, tools, and methodologies based on industry best practices and feedback from stakeholders.

Analyze release metrics and KPIs to identify areas for optimization and efficiency gains, leveraging data-driven insights to guide decision-making.

Foster a culture of innovation and collaboration within the release engineering team, encouraging experimentation and knowledge sharing.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in computer science, Engineering, or related field. Master's degree preferred.

Minimum of 8 years of experience in release engineering, DevOps, or related roles, with a strong background in software development and deployment.

Proficiency in scripting and automation using languages such as Python, Bash, or PowerShell.

Hands-on experience with CI/CD tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI, CircleCI) and configuration management systems (e.g., Ansible, Puppet, Chef).

Deep understanding of containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes) and cloud platforms (e.g., Google Cloud Platform).

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues and drive resolution.

Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with a track record of effectively leading cross-functional teams and driving results.
