Tower Module in Vestas Power Solutions is developing and maintaining the complete Vestas tower program. The tower module team is located in three hubs at Aarhus in Denmark, Porto in Portugal and in Chennai, India. You will sit amongst very passionate people from many areas of the world that is always willing to help. Tower offshore value engineering department is responsible for providing optimized tower solution to Vestas tower program. The tasks range from business case evaluations to structural engineering including FEM, requirement management, design risk assessment, test planning and project execution and creation of certification documentation.

Tower offshore value engineering is part of global tower Module. The department is responsible for provide customized tower solution based on site specific integrated load analysis for sales order, design modification for local market and to provide innovative design solution for life extension tower along with fulfilling certification need. Focus is on securing sound, cost-optimized and production friendly solutions and at the same time fulfilling the overall requirements to safety and functionality for the products. Additionally, process efficiency and lead time reduction is of key importance in order to fulfill Vestas's overall ambitions of delivering products, which are configured to customer needs in a timely manner.

The Offshore tower value engineering team is in Chennai, India

Responsibilities

• To develop and mature tower internals and interface solutions for ISM Tower offshore projects
• Technical lead for tower internals, CAD lead for tower internals and System Mater Expert (SME) support to sales for ISM tower offshore projects
• Create, delegate and coordinate Tower internals related work packages to value engineering team
• Mentor and train new employees in design of tower internals
• Work with sales, customer and foundation engineers to find the right tower and foundation configuration
• Work with technical team, sales and certification body to achieve the 3rd party tower internals certification
• Work with costing team to ensure/deliver the cost-effective solution,
• Take risk decision with high success rate and raise the risk flag in RIM tool and secure the mitigation
• Develop strategic solution for ISM Tower offshore projects improvements
• Manage ISM project requirements and create tower solutions to fulfill the requirements
• Develop and review the offshore tower structure 3D and 2D drawings with high quality
• Develop and Monitor CAD designers / reviewers to ensure CAD deliverables quality
• Achieve and maintain Engineering Change Management KPI

Qualifications

• Bachelor's / Master's in Mechanical / Structural / Similar engineering specialization
• Ideal candidate has 8+ years of experience with design and discipline lead within offshore wind
• Good experience in structural 3D and 2D drawings, Develop & monitor CAD designer to ensure CAD deliverables quality
• Wind turbine experience is beneficial, however similar experience from other offshore companies is also valuable
• Experience in product development and FEA (Experience in linear, nonlinear, fatigue, contact, vibration analysis using FEA)
• Technical leadership & Project leader skills (Technical project management)

• Proven technical experience, and ability to balance technical solution with business value
• Experience with design of towers or offshore substructure
• Problem solving-oriented
• Good communicator and possesses English skills at a high level
• Self motivated and complaint to new business opportunities
• Comfortable about delivering results through others
