Software Engineer in Test

ABOUT THE ROLE:

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Lead Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET III) to join our growing Quality Assurance team. In this role, you will be responsible for writing and maintaining both UI and backend automation tests, ensuring the highest quality standards across the application. You will use tools such as Selenium WebDriver, Rest Assured, Postman, TestNG, and Cucumber to automate tests and ensure product reliability.

The ideal candidate will have strong technical problem-solving skills, a deep understanding of QA processes, and a proven ability to be an independent contributor who can unblock themselves and peers. As a Lead SDET, you will play a critical role in mentoring junior team members, ensuring best practices in testing, and collaborating effectively with developers, product managers, and other stakeholders to deliver high-quality software.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES :

1. Test Automation Development:

• Ability to define automation strategy (functional/non-functional) for a product.

• Highly proficient in automation tools and in-depth knowledge of functional/non-functional automation stacks and building frameworks.

• Write automated API/WebSocket tests using Java/Rest Assured and Postman for validating RESTful APIs and WebSocket.

• Ensure that SDET I and SDET II in the team reuse and maintain existing test frameworks where possible.

• Proficient in Java and can write performant code and is able to do code reviews for the work done by the team.

• Be aware of the production environment and issues reported. Own up reproduction and troubleshooting production issues.

• Create data-driven tests and automate API validation against different environments.

• Ensure robust API coverage, including edge cases and negative test scenarios.

• Responsible for various dimensions of testing (functional/non-functional (i.,e performance, scalability, security, adverse etc.), ensuring quality experience to our customers.

• Write, review and maintain test cases that cover functional, regression, integration, and performance testing.

• Experience in testing web services/distributed systems and strong understanding on sql/nosql databases.

2. Framework & Tooling:

• Ability to design scalable, reusable and extensible automation framework by following OOPS design principles using Java, Selenium/WebDriver, Rest Assured, Postman, and Cucumber frameworks.

• Applies best design practices from other frameworks to in-house.

• Cognizant of performance, scalability attributes of the frameworks.

• Experience in developing PoC on problem statements related to test automation e.g tools/simulations/mocking/stubs development experience is a plus.

• Hands-on experience in performance testing using JMeter/locust etc is a must.

• Code coverage tool Jococo/coburtura is a must.

3. Agile and Continuous Integration (CI/CD):

• Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI).

• Ensure tests are executed as part of the build and deployment processes, reporting the

• results promptly.

• Participate in Agile ceremonies (sprints, standups, retrospectives) and work in an iterative, fast-paced environment.

4. Problem Solving and troubleshooting:

• Exceptional technical problem-solving skills, with the ability to quickly analyse complex issues and resolve them independently.

• • Ability to debug, isolate, and fix issues in both test code and application code.

• • Experience in performance testing, stress testing, and identifying potential bottlenecks.

5. Collaboration with Cross-Functional Teams:

• Partner with product management, development, and operations teams to ensure

• alignment on quality goals and deliverables.

• Work closely with developers to design and implement test strategies that support

• development cycles and meet business requirements.

• Lead cross-functional communication between engineering, product, and QA teams to

• ensure everyone is aligned on quality standards and release timelines.

ADDITIONAL SKILLS:

• Knowledge of mobile test automation tools such as Appium.

• Familiarity with cloud-based testing environments and services (AWS, Azure, etc.).

• Experience in the game industry or with game-specific automation is a plus.

• Familiarity with containerization tools like Docker and orchestration tools

• like Kubernetes for managing test environments.

• Required experience of 9 to 13 years
