Data Engineering Lead Analyst

Position Overview:

Data Engineer will focus on the management, optimization, and support of the databases specifically tailored for applications. This role differs somewhat from a traditional DBA, as it is more aligned with the needs of specific applications and their interactions with databases.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with application developers to design database schemas and structures that support application requirements.
  • Collaborate with application developers to understand the existing application databases (some were third party products) and recommend the best coding practices.
  • Ensure database are optimized for performance, security, and scalability.
  • Monitor and analyse database performance to identify and resolve bottlenecks.
  • Optimize SQL queries, indexing strategies, and database configurations to enhance application performance.
  • Work closely with application teams to understand their database related needs and provide solutions.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve database related issues that affects application functionality.
  • Manage user access and permissions to ensure data integrity and confidentiality.
  • Develop and maintain backup and recovery procedures to protect against data loss.
  • Ensure regular backups are performed and tested for reliability.
  • Facilitate data integration between different systems and databases.
  • Plan and execute data migrations, ensuring data integrity and minimal downtime.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation of database configuration, processes, and policies.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations related to data management.
  • Serve as a liaison between the enterprise database administration team and application development teams.
  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver appropriate database solutions.

Required Skills:

  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills to identify and resolve performance issues.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with development teams and other stakeholders.

Required Experience & Education:

  • Bachelors in computer science or related field, or equivalent relevant work experience and technical knowledge.
  • 5-8 years in total related experience.
  • 5+ years ofDatabase Administration experience.
  • Strong knowledge of SQL and experience with major database management systems (e.g., Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL (knowledge or ready learn).
  • Understanding of application development processes and how database integrate with applications.
  • Experience in scripting and automation to streamline database tasks.
  • Ability to diagnose and resolve complex database issues affecting applications.

Desired Experience:

  • Relevant certifications (e.g., Oracle certified Professional, AWS certified Database Specialty, Microsoft certified) can be advantageous.
  • Experience on PEGA infrastructure is a plus.
  • Experience on TriZetto Network Pricer is plus.
  • Experience on Optum tools is a plus.
