Lead Research Scientist

Job Overview

A Lead Research Scientist role involves supervising junior staff, organizing product/materials testing, maintaining quality standards as per ISO 9001 and ISO 27001, developing innovative solutions and report to management.

Key Responsibilities

• Overall responsible for conducting laboratory-based experiments, ensuring proper recording and analyzing of data, presenting results to senior/other research staff, writing research papers, reports, reviews and summaries, demonstrating procedures, supervising junior staff including technical assistants, organizing product/materials testing and ensuring that quality standards are met.
• Responsible for liaising with research and/or production staff, developing solutions to problems, keeping up to date with relevant scientific and technical developments by attending seminars, exhibitions and trade shows.
• Ensure proper monitoring of the plan route of synthesis, route scouting, route short listing. Responsible to get appropriate material through the material procurement department.
• Monitor the validation of route of synthesis, identify optimum route up to 1 kg scale. Ensure timely support and inputs for conducting techno-commercial feasibility of product.
• Responsible to review and approve the batch plan, analysis of the batch, study the impurity profile, control the impurities and optimization of the process.
• Ensure proper and safe isolation of the product, maintain records for wastes/effluent treatment that shall be the by product.
• Responsible to monitor the daily report-product summary, chemical, expected result, and operational workup.
• Must take active part to review and approve the information, sharing on the batch summary and group discussion, monitor that the documents of the process of making any reaction as per BMR are properly prepared.
• Co-ordinate and ensure that the correct document on SLP is generated when the product is ready for mass production. Also ensure to get SLP approved by Director (technical) before sending to production.
• Monitor the safety of self and team and ensure proper co-ordination among the team members so that all are motivated to work in safe conditions at all times, maintain minimum accident record and zero injuries to the team.
• To monitor the vendor and supplier coordination for chemical/instrument required by the team for various experiments. Review and approve the batch summary on daily basis and ensure proper waste disposal.
• Monitor the plant level troubleshooting being done by the team for any pilot/commercial production.
• Responsible to monitor the experiments that approve new raw material after generation of 3 new batches which give same quality and same yield as per previous standard batches.
• Review and uplift knowledge by attending seminars, trade shows, literature review, webinars and conference inputs.
• Gather information to develop new innovative products and process, by exploiting material and science. Also, responsible to support and suggest the senior management in identifying new areas for future business of the company.
• Ensure to build a culture of innovation in the organization and building of innovative teams by training them, motivating them to achieve the desired result and giving all possible support at all times.
• Write technical evaluation reports, publications, papers for national and international journals which are chosen by the company from time to time.
• To ensure that a quality system is established implemented and maintained in accordance with the ISO 9001 quality management system standards.
• To ensure that information security management system is established, implemented and maintained in accordance with the ISO 27001 standards.
• To follow all ISMS policy.
• To ensure that the continuous improvement is going on after implementing the system.
• To establish control system on quality records.

Qualifications

• Advanced degree (PhD or MSc) in Organic Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.

Skills

• Extensive experience in organic synthesis and chromatographic techniques.
• Proficiency in laboratory equipment operation and data analysis.
• Proven track record of successful laboratory research and product development.
• Strong knowledge of ISO 9001 and ISO 27001 standards.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
