This role involves performance modeling, component evaluation, preparing engineering documentation, and collaborating with teams and regulatory bodies. By staying updated on industry trends and offering technical support, the Design Engineer contributes to innovative and efficient solar project solutions.Core ResponsibilitiesDesign and Collaboration: Collaborate with teams to design and optimize solar energy systems while participating in design reviews and cross-functional meetings.Software and Performance Modelling: Utilize design software to model system performance and adapt designs based on project needs and technological advancements.Documentation and Compliance: Prepare and maintain engineering documentation, ensuring adherence to safety, quality, and industry standards.Site and Feasibility Assessments: Conduct feasibility studies and site assessments to support project development and progress.Component Selection and System Evaluation: Evaluate and select solar components, analysing performance data to recommend improvements.Industry Trends and Best Practices: Stay current with industry trends and technologies, adapting to new tools and techniques in solar design.Regulatory Compliance and Permits: Collaborate with regulatory bodies to secure permits and ensure projects meet safety and environmental regulations.Technical Support and Problem Solving: Offer technical support, address challenges, and contribute to a positive work environment.Education RequirementsBachelor's/master's in electrical engineeringTechnical Skills and ExperienceSoftware Proficiency:AutoCADPVSystHelioscopeETAPMS OfficeSolargrafAurora Solar or other solar-specific design toolsProject Management:Experience in managing design projects from conception to implementationAbility to coordinate with other engineers and stakeholdersRenewable Energy Systems:Understanding of solar energy systems and their integration into existing infrastructureExperience4+ years of experience in Design/ Electrical engineering, with a focus on solar energy projects.Psychosocial Skills /Human Skills/Behavioural SkillsStrong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.Management experience a plus.Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to take ideas and run with them from concept to conclusion.Technical understanding of clean energy business processesExceptional verbal and writing communication skills with superiors, peers, partners, and other stakeholders.Excellent interpersonal skills while managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced and ever-changing environment.Physical DemandsThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
