Job Purpose:

Electrical Design Engineers at solar project sites to ensure execution is aligned with approved electrical designs, drawings, and safety standards. This role provides on-ground electrical design support, prepares/modifies site-specific drawings when needed, and ensures smooth coordination with the Head Office (HO) Electrical Design Team for timely project delivery.


Key Responsibilities:

•Review and understand electrical drawings issued by HO (SLDs, cable schedules, earthing layouts, lighting, SCADA layouts, AC/ DC Trenches etc.).

•Prepare or update site-specific electrical designs/drawings (e.g., cable routing, earthing design, junction box placement, LT/HT panel room layouts).

•Perform basic electrical design calculations (cable sizing, voltage drop, earthing resistance, load balancing).

•Ensure site execution complies with approved drawings, standards, and codes (CEA, IEC, IS).

•Provide design clarifications/modifications to site team and get necessary approvals from HO.

•Issue red-marked drawings/as-built drawings after execution.

•Conduct field surveys to verify cable lengths, trench routes, and equipment locations before execution.

•Coordinate with civil and mechanical teams to resolve interdisciplinary design issues.

•Support the commissioning team with design-related clarifications during energization.

•Maintain site-level design records, approvals, and revisions log.

•Design & modify electrical work locally in case of ambiguity from the RFC (Release For Construction).

•Revise layout, cable schedule & connections locally.

•Work alongside local procurement & construction team for technical & cost optimal solutions which needs to be implemented at site.

•Work with HO engineering team to communicate technical issues at site for smooth & timely resolution.


Qualification & Experience/ Skills Requirements:

  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, ETAP, or similar electrical design tools.
  • Strong understanding of electrical systems in solar projects:
  • PV array to inverter interconnection.
  • LT/HT cabling, transformers, switchgear.
  • Earthing & lightning protection systems.
  • SCADA and metering.
  • Knowledge of CEA, IEC, and IS codes applicable to solar plants.
  • Ability to prepare quick and accurate design modifications at site.
  • Strong coordination and communication skills.
  • Problem-solving mindset for on-ground technical challenges.
  • B.E./B.tech in Electrical Engineering (mandatory).
  • 3-15 years of experience in electrical design and site execution (solar/renewable/industrial projects preferred).
